It depends on the size of your room and the viewing distance that is available. I have a 106" 16x9 screen. A few of my friends have 120" 16x9.

I would get something over 90". I love my 106" screen. However if I had more room and a top of the line projector I would love to have a 250" 16x9 screen. I have seen these at high end stores where you can spend $120,000 on the system.

You have a few calculations to do.

1. How big is your room? You don't necessarily want to be moving your left and right "scaning the screen" so you don't miss anything.

2. What is the lens throw on the projector and zoom abilities? It has to be in accordance with the size of the room and how far the projector is from the screen. Otherwise you may not be able to fill the screen or it will overshoot the screen.

I would say a good overall average would be 91" to 110" and make sure you get a 16X9 screen and compatible projector.

Hi. There is no "average " screen size .Depending on what Projector you buy you can have any size from 30 inches to 300 inches diagonal screen .(16 : 9 widescreen) What is the shape and size of your room the projector will be located in ? How long is the wall the projector screen will be on or hang in front of ?.Do you want a short throw or long throw lens ?

I have a question....Are you talking of the screen in a cinema theater, or as the last reply is guessing,a home theater screen?
There is really no average for the home - it is all by preference, space and money. As is all home AV.
Oops is my face red, this question is in the Home Theater section(hehehe),so the last part of my answer is my answer (hehehe).I would have deleted all but I loose too many hard earned points)LOL
