From what I have heard and read, it works for a small percentage of stutterers. For some, it works for only a short period. For all, as soon as they take the device out of their ear, they are right back to stuttering like they always did. I have read posts online where people were sorry they spent the money on one. Stutterers in my family used the book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" from The Stuttering Foundation. "Advice to those who stutter" is another good book. Working hard to overcome your stuttering, whether doing self therapy or going to a speech therapist who specializes in treating stuttering, makes for your feeling good about yourself and gives you the control over the situation. A device that may or may not work is only a temporary fix and will not leave you with the peace of mind of being able to control the stuttering. Any device could stop working, be lost, be forgotten and left at home, etc. See this page http://www.stutteringhelp.org/Default.aspx?tabid=174
