That's true, you can go to most bars at 18, and you can get a friend that is 21 to buy you drinks, not that I ever did that.

I went to school in Providence, RI and most of the bars are 18+. The fact is, that your son will probably drink at the bar, having older kids buy him drinks, but the bar is responsible if something should happen and if he is not going to drink in the bars, he will probably find somewhere else to do it. Just have faith in the way you raised him.

Some bars all over the country can let kids in at 18 for shows, billiards, etc. as long as the kids are carded coming into the door, but not all places do. You may want to talk to you son just in case.

i'm not sure about wv, but i dont think you have to worry about the bar serving him alcohol. many places have a seperate alcohol bar and then a virgin drink bar, and they check for a mark or wristband. now as for his over 21 buddies, that might be a different story, but most bars keep watch for that kind of things.

some bars do let you in when your 18 but usually they put a huge black x across the top of both hands the let people in the bar know that they are under age if they see them dringing and to cut down on friends buying drinks they usually use permant marker to so it can be eaisly washed off
