I know it's a dumb question, but I honestly have no idea. The more you can tell me, the better. Or at least suggest a place where I can read about it. Thanks!

Okay, so none of you actually know what the Holy Spirit is, but you claim to believe in all three aspects. I got a few decent answers, but come ON, Christians! This is your /religion/ I'm asking you about. Someone should be able to give me a sufficient answer. Thanks again for dealing with my pickiness.

It is God's active force or power. Imagine in any town, there is always the richest guy in town. Where ever you go, you see his handiwork. Names on buildings, scholarships named after him, his family is on the major committees, basically anything going on, he is a part of it. He can be across town and still his power is felt.

This is, on a small scale, what God's Holy Spirit is like. Except it can actually move or change things to His liking. At Pentecost 33CE, it caused Jesus' followers in the upper room to be able to speak with and understand all people with different languages about Jesus and the new message they had for mankind. With Moses, it divided water in a sea and appeared as a cloud that followed the Israelites around. Just a rich guy could not do that.

It is the Holy Spirit that will raise you up in the last day. You must have God's Spirit within you, or you do not belong to him........Please read Acts Chapter 10,,,it tells what happened when the first Christian was saved...all of this should happen to you,,,just as it did to those early Christians.....don't let anyone tell you it is not for today...trust what you read from the Bible....believe this...

I was baptized in August of 1980, but I didn't receive the Holy Spirit until Oct...two months later...sometimes it comes quicker than that,,sometimes is comes later..but you will receive it, when you are ready...and you will speak in tongues....just like the Bible says...read the whole book of Acts and believe it...too many churches today,,,throw it out or just skip over the parts that don't like....

The most important thing to notice as you read the bible is whether or not the Holy Ghost, Holy Spirit, holy Spirit, holy spirit, Spirit or spirit is being referenced. Each is different, and that you will learn as you increase your walk.

The Holy Ghost is an actual being. It is also called the Holy Comforter.(John 14:26) calls the Comforter "he".

The Holy Spirit, holy Spirit, holy spirit, Spirit, or spirit are not actual beings and each play slightly differing roles. These you will learn as you grow, but just watch the capitalization and actual words as you read.

Sometimes the meaning can be the actual action force of God, or a force that each individual has within themselves, or a force that works on an individual. The meanings are varied and without going into each time the words are used, I cannot explain each at this writing.

That is why the bible tells you to study to show "yourself" approved. I cannot study for you, you must study for yourself.

The Bible will help. Christians believe in the Trinity, one God in 3 separate persons. God the Father, God the Son, Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus sent Him (the Holy Spirit) when He (Jesus ) went to Heaven. This is Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; and He came in Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost) is mentioned through out the Bible.

The Godhead of Christianity is the Father, the Son Jesus the Christ and the Holy Spirit.

God the Father is Spirit and a consuming fire. The only way to see God is to see Jesus the Branch that God sent in the flesh to portray Him on the earth to mankind. When Jesus was resurrected and ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father, He gave us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit teaches us all things. We come to Christ just as we are with sins and baggage. When Christ puts the Holy Spirit in us we change. The Holy Spirit purifies and refine us. Daily the Holy Spirit removes our sins. Even when we fall back into sin the Holy Spirit keeps purifying that sin from us. Eventually the sin is removed and we are delivered from it.

I smoked for 43 years and one day the Holy Spirit just took the desire away. I've never wanted a cigarette since that day.
Only God could do that because I loved smoking and it was a horrible habit to me. I just asked the Holy Spirit to do it for me and He did. The Holy Spirit is so wonderful that I can't find the words. He's a Father, a best friend, a loyal companion, but He is better than that. He shows me favor when I don't deserve it. I ask for a parking spot and He gives me one. I ask for a long wait to speed up and He moves the line I'm in for me. I ask for an easy day and He gives me one.
I ask for a pancreas and kidney for my daughter and she becomes almost the next recipient. I ask Him to watch over my grandson and he walks away from a totalled car.

The Holy Spirit I love with all my heart, mind, body and soul.

The Holy Spirit the 3rd person in the divine trinity of god the father the son and the holy spirit. Unlike Jesus the holy spirit is not considered to be a a physical being but a helper instead.

Genesis, It is written when man's eyes were opened, the spirit of God will not last in them forever..
So, the holy spirit is already in each person..in my opinion..
It is written, Jesus baptizes with the holy spirit and fire..,
every person would be pour in holy spirit according to the deeds..
It is written, the fruits of the spirits are; love, joy, peace, self-control, gentleness, meekness..etc..
so those are the products of the holy spirit..

God decided to manifest Himself in three forms:

God the Father
God the Son (Jesus)
God the Holy Spirit

For a full understanding of each of these forms of God you must read and study God's word the Bible.

God bless!

Water has three forms: ice, liquid and steam but they are all water!

belongs to a person (God almighty) but is not a person like your fingers melongs to you but aren´t you

Luke 11:20 compare with Matthew 12:28 Jesus himself said that is like the fingers of God meaning is a tool that God uses for his will, that is why it doesn´t have a personal name, cause it is not a person, belongs to a person.

May look like a person sometimes but the majority of times in the bible (more than 400 times) as "something" not as "someone"

it doesn´t have a spiritual body, all people in heaven has spiritual bodies (1 Corithians 15:42-50) but the holy spirit doesn´t.
