I am going to join the military. I have a clean record other than some minor traffic violations. My wife however was convicted of a felony a couple of years ago. My job in the military will not require a security clearance. Will her past affect me getting into the military? Do they even run a background check on her since they do not ask about her criminal record?

The crime was not drug related, gang related, or violent. It was a financial white collared crime. Her passport rights were not revoked.

it MIGHT affect her ability to live in Military Family Housing. depending on what the felony was, she may be not permitted to live in base housing, and she may also be barred from the base altogether.
Other things to consider: she may not be able to get a passport, which means any tours overseas, you will be going alone. there are also situations where you need to be ELIGIBLE for a Security Clearance, regardless of whether or not you actually need one.
It could hinder your career and opportunities.

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://tinyurl.im/aH3UN
Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.
You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

The absolutely free background check sites generally provide the most basic of information, such as name, age and address. To get further information, money will have to be paid. The free searches do not provide much more than what can be found through the phone book or personal knowledge. It's impossible to get a free background check.
Stay away from shady background check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable background check site like http://backgrounddetectives.info/Inteligator-418.html that has been around since 1999. If I remember right it's $19 for a full report.

it may not affect you getting in but one thing you really need to consider is there is always a chance you will get an overseas long tour which is gonna be 3-4 years. with a felony on her record shes very likely to be denied a passport and you will have to go without her.

You are required to have a security clearance. You will Fill out DD398 Personal History. They check everybody--maybe not right away. The FBI does the background checks. The check is done to make sure you are a trusted agent.. ((Secret Clearance)) Your wife may keep you out--depends on the felony... Your traffic violations can keep you out..... Bad debt can keep you out even get discharged after your in for years... Over weight can get you out... Everybody puts their social security number on the line.
