I am an E2 getting married to another E2. I am sea duty while she is shore duty. How will our BAH work? Will one just get BAH, or will we both get single BAH? Can we live out on town then?
Any help please!?

if there are no children, you each rate Single BAH. Typically all married personnel regardless of paygrade are authorized to live in MFH or out in town, but it is strictly a command decision.

She will most likely be kicked out of the barracks, especially if they are full or close to it. you, if you are not Qual'd yet( and no I don't mean ESWS) you may have to live aboard until you are. depends on the Skipper.

Please be very careful and do not do anything that would be fraud. The military as a whole is really watching dual military and the use of BAH right now. We just had 2 officers busted for fraud here in the UK. Don't think about the money, just do the right thing!! You've gotten great advice on where to go and who to speak to for official regulations.

Good luck and remember, marriage takes a lot of work!!

You will both get BAH based upon your marriage residence. One of you will get Dependent rate while the other will get single rate (until you have children). The way to play the game is to have the one that holds the higher rank (After you both pass E-2) claim the other as your dependent. That way the higher rank receives the higher dependent BAH.

You can both live out in town, you will both get single, until you breed, then one will draw single and one w/dependant (usually the higher rank.) Don't forget to run your request chit's BAH is not automatic. And totally see your CFS and do budgets. In fact, rethink the marriage thing until you are older. The stats are not good for young duel mil. It's very hard. My spouse came home in October from a deployment and I left in November. It can work, but it's hard when your young and haven't sown all your oats. And we are old, he's retired now and I am three out. Good luck, find mentors and most important, communicate.
