I am a Christian. I belive that Christ died for our sins, and I accepted him as my lord and saviour.
With that said.. back to the main topic.
I have noticed dozens of questions completely bent on discriminating against someones beliefs or religion. Thats not what duiscussion is all about. I don't believe in evelution, but that doesn't mean that I go around saying, " Evelutionists are so blind, they did so and so, and believe so and so.. man they are retarded ". Thats not fair to the evelutionists that don't believe in whatever the topic was.
Same goes with Christians, or Buddists. I hate questions that single out a GROUP of people, and condemn the entire people that follow that group to being the same way, or stupid for what they believe. One question asked why - ALL - Christians make fun of other religions. Thats not true.. I wouldn not EVER say someone was foolish for being Muslim, or anything else.. because Gods Word says to respect every religion, even if they are wrong.

Let me put this in a slightly different perspective.
Don't take one Christians actions and reflect it upon anothers, or even worse, God.
God says that we are all sinner. We all fall short of the glory of God, but he extends grace to all of us, because we have all sinned.
My topic was simply asking why people like posting direct insults to religions and beliefs. Some people are posting... once again.. why Christianity is wrong :P... that has nothing to do with this topic lol.
To each his own oppinion of course though.
=)
I respect the opinions of non believers.. I listen to the opinions of peace-makers.

I am not saying that I glorify other religions\beliefs.. I am saying I respect them. We are not meant to judge others.. thats left up to Christ.

I am looking for the verse.. my argument is quite useless without it. But,
let me try to rephrase what I said there, because most of you are right.. I went out of line with that one.
You don't have to Believe or Accept other bleliefs... but you do have to respect them in a sense that you can't make fun of them. You can't go disrespecting false religions..
You can preach the truth, but you can't condemn the false teachings.. thats Gods job to judge.

When I said God said to respect other religions.. I went out of contex.
He says to love sinners and everyone else you dislike. He says to not judge their wicked ways, because He is the judge. I should have said,
Christ doesn't want us to condemn the people who are wrong, but rather lead them to the truth which is Gods Word... sorry about that.. I agree I was stupid there.

First, thank you for your great post. However, you may say things against other religion just as Paul and many others did to Jews first and then to others. But this does not mean you may say without patience and respect.
To the main topic, I agree that many have found that their religion(not for atheist but they seem to stand around) is right because they have been taught that way since their born or by conversion. I believe it is because many of people who are agumentitive about religion with little experience and knowledge about how serious the religion is because they have not been taught right.
The question is that why do people say that their religion is so true and right so they just scream their answers only. Well, if someone was wise, that person would never disrespect others. Why? Let's say if George wants to convert Sam to Christianity. Do you think George wants to just shout to Sam that Chrisianity is the right religion and others are merely from imagination and they'll go burn in hell including Sam if he is not Christian? If George is wise, the answer is no. If George was wise and wants to convert Sam, he would be patient, respectful, concerning, be ready to answer, not loud but quitely. If George was shout about Sam going to hell if he was nto Christian, Sam would never encounter with many other Christian missionaries or perhaps hate Christianity.
So, if you wanted to persuade someone to your religion, why waste time by saying that they're wrong. It is not wise because they think you're wrong. Therefore, be wise and do not underestimate other religion.

Maybe you are not acting like that, but enough people do. I saw a lot of christians saying how stupid and with lack of morals atheists are. And the atheists return the favor. And then a muslim wakes up feeling to insult christians. And then christians insult back. Believe me, i hate it too. I have a lot of respect for all beliefs (i accept the idea that i could be wrong in what i believe too). But people here feel anonymous and free to say whatever they want, sometimes they insult because they are not sure about what they believe in and they just want to prove something - or just to release some frustration
edit: i do have a problem with people who say "this is the truth and if you dont accept it then you will burn in hell" or "then you are stupid". I cant make any peace with them, they are way too full of themselfs.

I agree that we should not attack people, however, I disagree when you say "Gods Word says to respect every religion, even if they are wrong."
First of all, give me a chapter and verse. And what about God's directive to us to be DISCERNING and judge what others teach against His Word?????? And what about His instruction for us to be "wise as serpents, harmless as doves" (Matthew 10:16)?
You might find the following interesting:
" So what does the Bible have to say about other religions? It teaches that there is a spiritual war going on and the intention of Satan and his host of demonic spirits is to divert us from the truth. The apostle John wrote that "the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one (1 John 5:19 NKJV)", and the apostle Paul warned us that people will "follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons (1 Timothy 4:1, NIV)". From the beginning Satan has been deceiving humanity. In the garden he convinced Eve that "ye shall be as gods". Don't you find it interesting that to be divine "as God" is a common thread among many religions, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Mormonism, and even false Christianity teachings by Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn and others1? The Bible also teaches that Satan and his servants will masquerade as ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:13-14). Satan's hoisting of false religions has been a very effective lie since it mixes in some truth. A lie mixed in with truth is much like rat poison, which contains 99% good food and 1% poison - its that 1% of poison (or lie) that will kill you!"

BELIEFS are not deserving of respect. Your right to belief whatever nonsense you want to, so long as it doesn't interfere with my life, is not at issue here - but belief itself is acceptance of an idea without adequate evidence, and thus worthy of no respect whatsoever.
Any idiot can believe anything, and most do. You have no real evidence that anyone died for your sins, but because someone wrote about it in a book and your parents made you read that book and encouraged you to believe it, you think you've done something worthy of respect? Poppycock!
Religions often say respect beliefs, because they do NOT want you looking closely at any belief, especially your own. Science, otoh, says "PLEASE, examine the evidence and see for yourself! There ius no such thing as "belief" in evolution, either the evidence is convincing or it is not. Just because 99.9% of the world's scientists and nearly all major religions, excepting only the fringe fruitcakes here in the USA, accept evolution as fact, we STILL encourage you to read up, research, and investigate. You'll never find a religion that does that; every religion on earth embodies a faith component - which is to say, a degree of ignorance that you are supposed to accept without question.
Frankly, I find most believers so ignorant of science and logic that their parents should be arrested for child abuse - which is why the USA's lead in science is slowly eroding.

Keep in mind how Christianity has negatively influenced world events, from the religious wars to the discrimination of homosexuals/women/other religions, to its power over U.S. government policies. A lot of people despise your religion because of these, so try to understand the validity of this viewpoint. If you want to promote understanding between the sides, then understand it and think about how Christians can improve their actions. It's not just the atheists and other anti-Christian groups who need to change.

It's a pretty simple idea. In order to work at all democracy requires a large dose of chaos. A part of chaos is a lack of respect for certain people and institutions.
If we all were super respectful to one another and feared stepping on toes and bruising egos above all else then honest and real communication becomes impossible.
One of the really negative things about political correctness is that it has left us all afraid to talk to each other for fear of offending.
Too bad

people naturaly fear what they do not like or understand. If they can't explain it... or even more so if they think that the explanation is beyond those who align themselves with such a belief, then they feel that it is a threat. Sometimes, this is true. A false religion is a threat to the one who believes in it, leading them to helfire. But other times it's not and people simply want thier enemies to look stupid. It's a basic debate tactic, make your opponent look stupid. This is the answer to your question... however you are correct in saying that this is not a right way of thinking

Liar! Where does God's Word says to respect every religion, even if they are wrong? That's a lie!!!
God loves you, and so do I ... but God gave me a mind to use it. Sorry, your ideas must earn my respect.
"Stupid is as stupid does." If you intentionally smash your plane into my building ... sorry ... I can NOT respect that!
If I think you are a Martian, can every one respect that "belief"?
If I think I am Napoleon, can every one respect that "belief"?
If I think you all need to slap yourself in the face, can every one respect that "belief"?
You lie, but I like you! Be good, and be well.

perhaps a distinction should be made between mockery for its own sake and disrespect. i don't respect your beliefs, i don't think they are true, and i don't see what's wrong with saying so (and you can do that too, as far as i'm concerned). i do respect your right to have your own beliefs, within limits. on the other hand if you suddenly profess to a belief in the virtues of cannibalism, i think i might have to do more than disrespect your views - i might honestly wonder if you should be trusted to form your own beliefs.

Yeah, we get that all the time. I absolutely can't stand "Why are Atheists" or "Why can't Christians" questions. It's nuts, I think for the most part they're bored kids or 50yr old virgins with nothing better to do. People need to learn to not generalize, and to accept that their beliefs may not be right. Who knows, we all might be wrong. Anything that starts with "Why do ALL..." is just a bad question. People like that are insecure and need to rethink life.
Tolerance is hard to come by.
