It happened recently. I was driving to school yesterday and when I got on the interstate, and sped up to meet the speed limit (70 mph) my car started to jerk very bad. I tried to put it in cruise, but it still did it. WHen I slow down to about 60 mph, that car does not jerk anymore. What the heck is wrong with my car? :(

I just checked the Transmission, and it's fine, thank god. I am going to assume that it's the fuel filter. Would it be okay to just leave it alone for a few days just to see if it keeps doing it? Or should I get it checked IMMEDIATELY? Please note that I only have the money if it's completely necessary. Thanks for any help!

There's jerking...and then there's shimmying. Had the front end aligned and tires rotated? The other answer is also on point, but I always think of 93,000 miles with no front end check-ups....wouldn't hurt to have them put it on the hoist and make sure.

Your transmission is most likely burned up (meaning you need a new one). If you pull out the transmission dip stick located on the driver's side of the car near the back of the motor you will probably find the transmission fluid is brown or black and has a bad burnt smell to it. This is very common on Taurus's. The trannys normally never make more then 120k miles and if they are driven at all hard or not serviced often they will last alot less. Good luck!

May have a dirty fuel filter also ,Its getting pretty close for that 100K miles tune up you see they don't tell you when you get 90K its OK to get things fixed so go ahead a do the 100K tune up and I am sure you will be OK, hope this helps.

Sounds like fuel starvaation at higher speeds. Could be that the fuel pump is getting bad or it could be an injector problem.

check the plug boots or cam sensor. Might be the ticket. Good luck!
