The first place to locate grants for college is by filling out the FAFSA form. Depending on your income and savings, you will qualify for the Pell Grant, Federal Work Study Program, and student loans. It can also bring need based financial aid from the college itself. I also recommend approaching the the local Workforce or Department of Human Resources in your area which can be located via the blue pages in the phone book. I also recommend searching for outside scholarships, and I will list some free resources below. Good luck!

Check on-line for college grants. Look up Pell Grants. High school counselors should have information on locally available money, as well. Do you know about FAFSA? This is the federal process to qualify for financial aid based on income. Most universities refer to your FAFSA results when awarding money. Don't go to fafsa.com., this is a for-profit site playing off the government address.
