The other day I was out running errands and I saw the strangest looking vehicle I'd seen in years. It was tiny, carried only two people, and had only one front wheel like a tricycle, but was running on gasoline. I would like to know if anyone knows what this vehicle was, if they are capable of highway speeds, if the law allows them on highways, and where I might acquire one. The thing was dorky looking as anything, so I imagine they must be cheap, and it was tiny so it should be fuel efficient. The reason I ask is that I am on disability with a very fixed income and am in need of a fuel efficient form of transportation. I considered a scooter, but you can't use them when it gets cold or rains. If I could find one of theses things for sale, it would solve so many of my problems. Can somone help me out?

They were built by BMW and others back in the 60's. Weren't terribly popular. The door was the front of the car and the steering wheel folded for the driver to enter and exit. They did have one advantage. You could put them in a parking space that nothing else would fit in. For more about them go to www.3wheelers.com.
