If it was a flood to wipe out all of mankind how did Noah manage to keep his boat from sinking? Where was he with all those animals in these horrendous conditions? And considering he was 600 years old he seemed to have been doing a good job of steering a ship and looking after every animal on the planet..

The flood was not world wide. It was meant only to destroy the offspring of the fallen angels that had mated with the daughters of men which produced hybrids that had to be destroyed.
I'm sorry, you appear to have lost me.

It was a world wide flood with water coming from the water canopy above the earth. The ark did not have to steer anywhere. All it had to do is float. Following the construction details God provided, it did and had room for everything.
Considering it had never rained before, building a boat on dry land took some faith. (Gen. 2:5-6) The geography changed dramatically as well. Contenents were closer together and land masses were not as dramatic (heights and depths). The Bible tells us the land masses changed to accept all the extra water by folding (could it be said wrinkling?). Some land going deeper while others grew higher. The science of topography shows this to be true.
The animals did not have to be as numerous as most think. Two by two or seven by seven of only the basic representatives on each KIND were needed. A couple of dogs, a couple of cats, as long as they had all the genes could produce all the dogs at cats we know now. Just as through Noah's family, all the races came to be as they were much closer to perfection than we are now. The DNA was there to do it. The animals had no fear of man then. After the flood, in Gen. 9:3, when God provided all creatures as being food for man, fear started for survival.

I cant remember who and when but they did make studies of the ark and used simulations of the size and shape of the ark acording to the bible and put it through lab test to see if it would stay afloat. It did. God knows what he is doing. Noah was in the boat with the animals and the rest of his family. They did not steer the boat it went as the water tossed it. The funny thing to me is that the ark is still where the bible says that it landed on Mt Ararat in Turkey. Unfortunitly we are not allowed to go and see it because that would give proof to the bible but than again I dont need proof to believe what Gods word says.

ROTFL! A friend sent me to this page to check out that answer to your question and now I understand why? Oh my Gah!! The bats are out of the belfry tonight!
You will hear this:
"GOD protected Noah and the animals. HE gave Noah the strength to sail the Ark. Even with all those dinosaurs on board, he, like Molly Brown, was unsinkable." Because every single time a question like yours that makes any sense is asked and the fundies don't have a response - it's God's mercy/ omnipotence. Of course if we bring up holocausts and the like we're told we were given 'free will' to ruin ourselves. What a God, eh? Free will. If you don't believe, you'll burn in hell eternally. If you do, you'll get invited to the Fairy Tale Party in the sky. Wow. Now there's free will for you.
A fine question, Thinker. Thanks.

Of course the flood was worldwide.
God kept it afloat and God steered it. Read your bible dear. It was God that told Noah to build it, why would He not look after them all?
