I have a TV with a built-in ATSC/NTSC tuner

You MIGHT GET LUCKY.....Hook your cable directly into the back of your TV set....SCAN for digital channels.

Local stations in HD MIGHT APPEAR....if not, then you have to call your Cable company and request HD .....
When they turn it on, SCAN for digital channels again.....

Now you should have it....but it may not be located in the SAME channels as the CABLE BOX....

IF SO.....and IF you have the CABLE CARD slot on your TV, you can get the Cable Card, plug it in and REPROGRAM AGAIN....

I think that's why many people just get the box and say "To hell with that setup!!"

u can get a uhf antenna (billed now as HD antennas - same thing, higher price) and connect it to your antenna input.
then rcv those channels OTA thru your tuner.
