Just goes to show that mass hypnotism and and religious repetition works .
Add a little fear ,a lot of guilt and a scoop of punishment and TA - DA you have believers .

I have trouble believe that somebody who lives in today's world doesn't believe in an afterlife.
Is your premise that modern science and innovation has removed all the need for such a silly superstition as God and heaven?
If so, that's cute. Our modern life points toward God more strongly than ever before, and science only adds to its knowledge that there is an intelligence "out there."
It's when we know just a little bit about science and spirituality that we make assumptions like "nobody in today's modern world, since we're so modern and all, really can believe in an afterlife, since we're all so ... modern and all."

Oh, yeah. Material things breed the material. Start praying, meditating and you will begin to see, feel, smell differently because you will start seeing with your soul. Have you ever seen anyone (thing) die? The light goes out of their eyes. Where does that chi (life force)go? Where does energy go? It changes. We have an intelligent elevated energy called soul which occupies a body like a coat for awhile then goes on to develop. Believe in reincarnation? Ghosts? People who can foretell the future?

I guess I see what you are saying (though it is a little condescending). I believe that there could be an afterlife, personally, and it may be the Heaven-Hell dynamic. But, I do not "HONESTLY" believe that, so, I guess I am alright...

Uh...yeah. Why wouldn't I or shouldn't I believe in an afterlife? I believe in the Bible and it tells me that Jesus came and died for my sins and that if I believe in Him and accept Him into my heart, then I will live in Heaven with Him for eternity when I die.
John 3:16:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
And that's all the proof I need!

Yeah, it may not sound all *logical* and *scientific* but BELIEVING is all you need to know it's going to happen. I'll give YOU a question. If there wasn't an afterlife, and God wasn't real, how come SO many people go to church? It didn't come from nowhere!! And where do you think WE came from? We didn't just appear from the sky..!

Especially one with robes and candles and gates and long scraggly beards, in other words an afterlife for people who lived 1400 years ago, It's not very exciting for those who live in 2007.

Fine. We really do BELIEVE, even though we use computers and watch TV and do all kinds of modern things. Isn't that peculiar? We really DO believe!

The questioner is really a thinker. You Christians should get out of the hole you are living currently and realize that your thoughts of the world are stupid.

And you believe that based on what evidence - blind faith. I cannot believe that anyone in this modern world would out of blind faith claim to have knowlege that there is not an afterlife.
