Awesome Question, I would really like to think about it in the sense of why humans cannot remember anything from the ages of 3 or 2, and before that. Well as most psychologist would like to answer the whole not remembering thing, is that since we have no concept of words, and their meaning is why we cannot remember memories before speech. But on the other side of things is that dream interpretation consist of the fact that human mind cannot produce anything it has not seen before. But in the sense of saying you've had a dream of going to some place that you've never been before can be explained in the thoughts of colaberation of human mind processing thought. Why we have an imagination, we see, we put together, we produce. So blind people having dreams in a very good topic to say the least but I would have to say yes and no. Depending on when the blindness occured. To futher extend the question is do they dream in black & white, or color? As some psychologist think that most bi-polar people only dream in color and not black & white as a person who does not have the mental illness.

I'm not a psychologist, just have a lot of free time and reading material. If any one wants to site my writtings please do. I have no sources but only knowledge.

Good question, a lot can happen in one person's dream. If the blind person has a soul desire to see like normal people it is possible they will dream that they can see. Mabe if the person was born blind they will want to know what is it like to see normally so they dream of it. If a person was able to see and than some how became blind, mabe they still remember what is it like to see so they want to have their vision back so they dream of it also.

it depoends on when they were blinded; if blinded before the age of four they tend to forget what images look like and so do not 'see' in their dreams. If blinded after that age they often report dreaming in images. Someone blinded when 50 or 70 yrs will of course see in their dreams because that is their majority life experince - the blindness is a very recent imposition on them

I don't believe dreams are just visions. I believe a dream could be verbal. I know when I dream I hear the charters talking. The crazy thing about this question is that my father became blind in his early thirties and i never thought to ask that beautiful question. He is no longer with us. I believe if you where born blind or became blind, you and we can all dream, just differently.

I'm sure that blind people can see in their dreams if they had seen before but became blind, but not if they were born that way. Dreams are just thoughts and memories being played out in your brain as you sleep , so if they do not know what it's like to see I'm sure they couldn't see in they're dreams.

Well if you were born blind, you can't envisage what you never knew. Often times, dreams are based on or stem from real events. So if you've never visually experienced these events, then hardly would you be able to dream about them. If however you were able to see prior to becoming blind, then it may be possible to see your dreams, but i'm not sure that they'd be able to understand them. And I suspect that eventually, they'd lose the ability to see these dreams as the blindness would've seriously impaired their visual creativity.

HBO Family has a special about kids and dreaming, bedtime, sleep, etc. In it there is a bit about a boy who is blind and he says that he can not see in his dreams but he can "stand and be in a place."

If they lost vision from birth to age four, then their dreams are usually shadowy and colorless. If between age four and eight, then they have dreams with simple shapes and sights. If the person lost their vision above age seven or very recently, then the have full, colorful, elaborate dreams just like we do.
