I am trying to get my arms stronger, because I'm doing crew at my school, but I have been doing it everyday, and yesterday I did it a lot and now my arms are absolutely killing me. What is the waiting period inbetween working out your muscles?

Muscles work out in groups, as muscles work in opposition to each other (think biceps to triceps, and transverse abdominis to the muscles of the small of the back). You can definitely work out with weights every day - heavily even - but work out the upper body one day and the lower body the next. Very large muscles, such as those of the thighs, can be worked heavily every day.
The pain is a result of lactic acid build up in the muscles. This is a byproduct of cellular metabolism, and it is a toxin. Flush it out by drinking a lot of water during and after exercise, and you can further reduce inflammation by taking some motrin in addition. Also, once your muscles are toned they can take more stress.

Remember to rotate on and off from lower and upper body just dont try and focus on upper body, you dont want all that lactic acid just buildnig up in the upper body because you will strain yourself and it will hurt and be soar for along time.

But the best thing would probably be like do something liek this

Mond- Upper Body
Tues- Lower Body
Wend- Stretch or Upper Body
Thurs- Lower Body
Friday- Upper Body
Saturday- Relax and Stretch
Sunday- Relax and strength

Kinda rotate too for each week so when monday comes back around do lower body that day

remember this: Fast work outs pick up strength
Working out slow builds up mass (this is a must)

I'm not an expert on this or anything but one of my weight lifting work out tapes says to wait 36 hours between workouts if I do the whole 40 minutes. Otherwise I'd wait 24 hours before doing any weight lifting, depending on the intensity.

You should try not to weight train any body part every day. Muscle needs time to rest and heal. Try doing a total body workout 2 times a week, and on off days 25-30 minutes of cardio. Set your weight training days to Monday and Thursday (for example) and tuesday, wednesday, and saturday for cardio. Rest sunday. Give it a shot. Peace.

You are supposed to wait 48 hours between working out the same muscle groups.

1. You shouldn't use weights everyday since your body needs time to repair the damaged muscle fibers for strength to increase. How quickly your body repairs them depends on your current physique, diet, and genetics.

2. If you're building strength for crew, you should focus on building your leg muscles, lower and upper back, focus on squats, deadlifts, and cleaning. That should build your core nicely and you will see the improvements almost immediately.

You gotta be kidding me. You can't work the same muscle every single day. If you do, you'll only experience "overworking" which can cause muscle deterioration and weakness. Work your muscles twice a week, with atleast a 2 day break.

if your a beginner at weight lifting as in you havent lifted for a long time then take a break every 2 days. when you feel your arms hurting that means your using muscles. dont stop there, keep going until yuo just cant do it anymore. of course dont kill yourself doing it.

If you want to work on your arms as well as the rest of your body, do weights one day and cardio the next....it will give your arms time to recover.

No, you don't even have to exercise everyday, other than walking, and then again, I don't consider walking exercise. I am blessed, I have two good strong legs, and I can walk. No, I wouldn't ever other day maybe.
