Okay.

Every year my mother asks me what sort of birthday cake I want. I tell her what type, and then I try and explain to her what sort of icing I want.

There are genrally two types that she gets. One icing has the consistansy of whipped cream, and is rather bland if you ask me.

The kind I like is much more sugary, sweeter, and, well, I guess thicker. It's more like the kind of icing you would buy in a can at Shop Rite.

I explain this to her, and she keeps asking me about it, and she phrases it in such a way that I get so confused, tell her the wrong thing, and she ends up getting the wrong kind of icing. The whipped creamy icing.

It's not such a big deal, but I really dislike the whipped-creamy type of icing. It makes me gag. I would prefer it not being on my cake.

If anyone can help me with the names of these two icings, it would be such a big help. I would love you forever. I think one is Butter(Better?)cream, but I don't know which.

Anyway, thank you so much!

Now there is frosting and there is icing. Icing is what you get on glazed donuts. Frosting is the fluffy stuff, it comes in different form. You have whipped, which I agree is horrible and tastless, there is butter cream which is wonderful and oh so bad for you, there is cream cheese frosting which is great on spice and carrot cakes and then the best of the best is Whipped butter cream. It is light a fluffy like the whipped but it has the great flavor like butter cream, but it is just whipped a little more. This taste nothing like whipped frosting. Good Luck.....

The one you want is Butter Cream icing. The other icing you are describing is called Elite...sort of like airy styrofoam if you ask me.
