Think about it. If you could erase a cd-r, there would be no need for a separate cd-rw.
cd-r - recordable, writable once, readable many times. Heat in the writing process permanently changes the optical properties.
cd-rw - rewritable, many times

Nope, erasing cd-r's is impossible, hence the market for cd-rw's. Sorry mate!

No. CD-Rs use a special dye that can only be written to once.
