As we all know, hormones are a tough one to keep a handle on when we are young. Yes, being a Christian and keeping yourself "clean" is awesome, but it doesn't always happen. We, as Christians, still sin, we don't become "immune" to sin, just more sensitive to it.

Morality these days says that it is OK to have sex before marriage. When the bible was first written it was done so with the morality of that time. Even religion must keep up with the times.

More likely, actually. They aren't taught about safe sex, so they end up pregnant or diseases a lot more than a regular kid who's parents cared enough. I'd rather my teen have safe sex, than swear to be abstinent (80% don't keep that vow) and end up with a kid.
And why fight against human instinct and hormones? That's a dumb idea, it goes against everything we are as a person.
It's the parents' fault.

The likelihood of premarital sex among Christian teens is proportional to the degree of severity with which such activity is prohibited.

because the sex drive of the brain kicks in around the same time the reproductive organs start working. some people can resist the urge to have sex, that is regardless of religious affiliation though.

I don't think the "Christianity" of today is the same as Christianity of say, 1800 years ago. I would even go so far as to say that Christians of 200A.D. would condemn today's "Christians" out of hand.

LOL...Cynical Chick definitely nailed it.
"Christians" prefer the pattern of repression and self-denial, punctuated by the occasional freakout in which their biology catches up with them. Ted Haggard is a sterling example.

The desire to reproduce (aka sex) is instinctual and very natural. The idea of suppressing those desires is one of the many evils perpetrated on the human race by religion.

Hel-Lo?!? They're teenagers. Religion has nothing to do with it. "Morals" (i.e. common sense) kick in sometime after 25 for girls, and sometime between 35 and 55 for guys.
