I don't think most people end up with Alzheimer's so most pro boxers would not either. If your question is does boxing cause Alzheimer's the answer is no. There are several theories on the causes of Alzheimer's, but boxing is not one of them. Boxing can cause other sever problems, and has led to diminished cognitive abilities.

No. Most pro boxers don't end up with Alzheimers. Alzheimers are mutations of cells in the brain and the cause is still unknown. Smoking, drinking, or doing drugs have been connected with Alzheimers, unlike physical trauma from boxing.

The ex-fighters who are "walking on their heels" don't have Alzheimer's.. They are "punch-drunk" from taking too many head shots. Of course an ex-fighter who has the Alzheimer gene passed down to him could possibly get it. There is really no way to protect the fighter from the damage that heavy shots to the head can cause. Perhaps exceptional headgear would help, but the nature of the sport is to satisfy the public hunger for knockouts.
