I would say it's more likely to be the drugs you are taking to control the disease, assuming you are on drugs. On the other hand, it can also be a sign of depression, so you may want to discuss it with your doc to see if he thinks a medication adjustment is warranted.

I also am Bipolar... From my experience, it really isn't about the sleepiness. It about not feeling up to it. When I would be on my down cycle, it was horrible. I would not do a thing, even when I really wanted to do something. Now I seem to have things a little more under control and I just make myself do it. I noticed I would be sleepy because I was just so down. Everyone is different, so I wish you all the luck in the world!

It can be a combination of meds, the depressive phase of bipolar, diet, etc. If you get to know your body well enough, sometimes you can catch your symptoms before then spin out of control, I know I need somebody sometimes to let me know if I start getting hypomanic, or if my depression gradually sneaks up on me and kicks in to the point of becoming debilitating and I want to sleep a lot, but I am strict about sleep, and exercise, which regulates energy, and can enhance your sleep. I pretty much make myself exercise, but make it fun, watch funny cartoons, tv shows, and even bring the laptop to keep me occupied. Just my thoughts and ideas.

It can actually depending on various items. Your diet, your lifestyle, the amount of stress and triggers your putting yourself in front of.
I can actually at times even when I was on medication have real issues with this matter myself. I have been dealing with this issue since I was 13, my symptoms got really drastic when I turned 21.
When your actively trying to control your moods in front of others it can definitely make you feel worn out and stressed to the point of exhaustion.
