Ah, yet another rehash of Pacal's Wager.
And, dear....most folks here aren't saying that you or I are wrong - they are saying that they don't believe what we believe.
There IS a difference.

Is Pascal's Wager really the best argument Christians have to defend their beliefs? I see it here so often. What you may fail to realize that, for people like me, my beliefs aren't about hedging my bets to cover my a$$. My beliefs are based on what I find to be the most logical and probable explanations. And if the God of the Bible is true, then I don't think I want to swear allegiance to such a cruel, temperamental and hypocritical dictator. If I'm wrong and I meet God when I die, I'd tell him that he didn't provide enough evidence to rationally believe in his existence.

Why would God make us suffer, if He loves us and gave us free will? Not to mention, we can't just go to church and suddenly believe. Belief chooses the person, the person does not choose the belief. Even if an Atheist wanted to believe, they simply couldn't. There is nothing the human mind can be forced to do.
What if my spirits say tell me you're going to a hell-like place if you don't share me beliefs? It's a no brainer-- change. Can you? I don't think you can-- it's just not who you are and you can't force a belief.

What an excellent post antihero.
We all had to sit through bible teachings at school and the one thing we were taught is that "all you have to do is believe and accept God into your heart".
So with that said....
Why am i now being told i have to pray, i have to go to church, i have to do this, i have to do that? I believe in God because i just do and i always have... even as a 4 yr old who came from a very non catholic family. I believe in God because they are my beliefs and have never been imposed on me until i started school and was forced to sit through class after class of scripture with a teacher who couldn't answer any of my questions. I believe in Jesus but i don't believe he was the magic man he has been portrayed as... but that's my beliefs.
Every Christian i know are all the same...
They give their money to the curch, whinge and ***** about their neighbours, treat everyone like crap... but for some reason because they go to church they think are wonderful human beings. The only good catholic i know was my dad and he wasn't a practicing one, only attented church for weddings, funerals and christenings and stipulated no church service for his own funeral. He spent his whole life helping people, providing a wonderful, happy home for his family and only cared for family, good friends, good food, plenty of drink and trying to help others less fortunate.
I wish religion could be banished!!!

And what are you going to do if the Hindu's are right? You will be facing the wrath of a thousand gods. Why wouldn't you want to become a Hindu--it seems like a no-brainer.

Because we aren't taken in by your silly superstitions. What if the Muslims are right and you're wrong.
Seems a no-brainer that you should convert to Islam just in case, don't you think?

you've just explained Pascal's Wager very well, a famous philosophical argument. It is generally refuted and considered to be a flawed argument.
So, to answer your question, here's a website with a list of arguments refuting Pascal's wager - in other words, a list of reasons why your argument isn't a good reason to be a Christian.

and just for the fun of it, a fun comic on the same topic - http://picayune.uclick.com/comics/ch/1987/ch871223.gif

I am not worried about Christians or any other group of theist being right.
Just think of all the time wasted in church, prayer, and reading religious text when you discover that the atheist were right. Not to mention the money given to your religious institution.
You actually do have a lot to loose serving a god who isn't there.

And what are you going to do if the Muslims are right?
Or the Jews?
Or the Hindus?
Or the ancient Greeks?
Or any of the other hundreds of religions that have existed over time?
Face it, the odds are that you will lose. Then what will all your tithing and time wasted praying to the wrong god have gained you?

Why would I want to believe in a God that send people to hell? That is not unconditional love. That’s a condition. Believe or Burn.
I choose to believe that no matter what religion is right that God will love all of us.
