Wrath is defined as:
1) strong vengeful anger or indignation
2) retributory punishment for an offense or a crime

If we chose to define wrath as #1 then would that not take away the argument that god is a loving compassionate being
and
If we chose to use definition #2 then would that not take away the argument that we send our selves to hell and that god is punishing us by sending us there

Funny those of you who brought up the argument that regular fathers punish their kids. The difference is that regular fathers don't send their kids to hell as punishment and have them be tortured for eternity if they don't beleive in him when they have never seen him.

This is one of the many reasons that the Biblical God cannot exist. God cannot be loving and torture humans for all time. They can't coexist, especially considering that God must be the ultimate judge and determined the punishment for not believing in him, or misunderstanding his will.

God isn't held by rules that state he HAS to torture humans for eternity, he chooses that punishment, which is eternally cruel, and not at all loving.

Actually this is a great question, and one that I hope I can answer in such a way that you will understand God just a little bit more. God is Holy, we are not. So since God created us, and has control, He demands holiness from the people that He created. We messed up, and we are far from holy- so therefore the wrath of God is upon His people. However along with justice and wrath, does come the love and mercy of God. Let me explain. God does demand perfection, however, we are far from it, so there had to be payment for our sin, either hell, or someone had to pay the price that we could never pay. however except for Jesus there is no one perfect- so in God's love He sent His only Son to die in our place, so that we could have the personal relationship with Him that He so desires. God is the only one who has the right to be angry with us, however, He did not use that right to deny us into His presence. His love and grace overflows to those who accept Christ. God's wrath is what we deserve, Gods love and mercy is what we do not.

The people who will be suffering God's wrath will be the ones who blatantly reject Jesus Christ. They will have their whole lives to turn to Him. They will go through the Great Tribulation, and still have chances to repent, but they refuse. Why should the wicked deserve to live in heaven with the Lord? They are not God's children, but the Children of satan. Their ways are only wicked, and they have no love for God, their creator. They have CHOSEN this path themselves, even after being warned time and time again. Why should they be able to rejoice with the righteous, who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and have served Him in their lives? How would that be fair? God wrath will not fall on the righteous.

Nope.

If we choose number two, then the punishment is the same as life in prison on earth without parol, God is a good judge and we all sin...

Think about this:

Have you lied once? Then you're a liar
Have you stole something? Then you're a theif
Have you hated someone? Then you're a murderer at heart
Have you looked at someone lustfully? Then you're an adulterer at heart

And those are just 4 Commandments, so according to that alone I am a lying, muderous, adulterous, theif in the night... I deserve hell... But Jesus saves me

God deals with us the same way we, as parents deal with our own children. Don't our children sometimes make us angry and we punish them for disobeying us? But do we stop loving them? No, and neither does God. So you see it is possible to incur wrath, execute punishment and still be loving. We are made in his image and after his likeness, that's why we have some of the same attributes; anger, forgiveness, love, etc.

God is a loving and forgiving God. However, he will not allow sin into heaven. This is when he will unleash his wrath, on people who have not accepted him and lived life for him. They will go to hell with satan and all his followers. People have whole lifetime to accept him, that makes him such a loving God, so 1 and 2 are correct definitions of wrath of God.
God through satan out of heaven and he was once one of God's angels, but satan became to prideful.

I know that when my church spent time focusing on the "wrath of God", many people started going to other churches. No one wants to live a life constantly in fear or guilt and then hear about it every day. However, when my church changed their tune and started focusing on god being "loving", people came back and were more interested. I am not trying to disrespect religion, but it is just as any other marketing ploy. You can only control people with fear and guilt for so long before they will rebel. Basically, "you can attract more flies with honey than with vinegar".

Hey joe, odd name huh? Yes God is a loving God, but He has a side of wrath, but its from love too. God is angry about sin and all that it birings to us all. He wants us to live in paradise without sin, crime, all of it. ANd yes, God wil end sin. PPL will go to hell too, but not becuse HE doesn t love them and chooses that for them. He inspired a book to be written, the HOly Bible that tells about Gods plan for us and tell us sin leads to death and hell. If ppl ignore it, then dont blame Him. Its all choice. SO when they wont accdept the Lord, the accept the only other alternative, the devil , and yes hell is where they go. Dont blame GOd. Each must accept responsability for what THEY DO. God warns us. not HIs fault if we ignore it all. His anger is from indigation and it is vengeful, as He will wipe out sin for the rest of us because He loves us so much. SO its number one. We will receive punishement if we dont accept Jesus and obey, but its punishment we chose by rejecting Jesu Christ. so two is out. HOw loving would it be if God never ended sin and we all had to live in this world forever as awful as it is now. not safe to walk down most streets. llook around you. GOd will make it paradise again and those who want it will be there. WE may receive punishment in hell, but its one we asked for, cuz we know what God says bring us to hell and if you keep doing it, arent you saying thats my desire GOD??
yep, All God does, even the wrath is from love. He wants a better world for all of us. all are called, only a few will answer.
Great question, hope you think on it and let the Lord speak directly to your heart and mind.

Do parents not punish their children when they play with knives or other dangerous acts?
Doesn't the legal system put criminals in prison for crimes?

The problem is that people don't want to be held accountable for their actions. Because someone knows the truth and choses not to believe it, they send themselves to Hell.

Because He is also a God of righteousness and justice and will not put up with evildoing and sin forever.

There is a time coming when the offer of salvation will be no more and God's wrath will come upon those who have rejected His son.

That's why.
