With the love an animal shows, they have to. If humans have souls, then animals do too.
We are animals, just like them. Look at Koko the gorilla, she can use sign-language and knows just what she's saying. She speaks without being told to, she is sentient and she definately has a soul. Anyone that looks at Koko and says animals don't have souls is a nut.

All life on the planet has a physical body and some sort of "life force".
The difference with Humans is that when God breathed life into the Human body, it became a living soul.
That soul lives on after the body dies, and the life force returns to God. The soul remains accountable for its actions in life. It will receive a "Heavenly Body" at some point in the future.
Animals do not have the soul part. They are not accountable for their actions. They can have some measure of physical intelligence, but without the soul behind it their intelligence cannot reach the heights that God intended for Humans to reach.
The gift of the soul is what enables Humans to rise above their animal instincts and become something greater, and closer to the example of God.

I dont know! But I more incline to say they dont.
Animal's Love to human ( you can see in dogs and horses very obviously) : I think it's reflection from the owner(people) and instinctively (from the dogs&horses)back to the owner or it's not originated in the them (dogs & horses).
Love and care to their own children, is instinctive I would say, which God "put" it . It's within all animals.
If we look at soul related to wisdom ; again I dont think animals have soul.
They cant tell whats good or bad.( their brain seems not equipped with this capacity).
As per what BlueLadyBlueR experiences, I used to hear some funny noices where no people around; Like locked door unlocked and opened, calculator(s) kept disappearing in front of me on my desk and back again, (other people saw it as well), so her experienced not far different I would say.
That's how I can say that they have no souls.
We have the souls, we can feel it ; the animals are just like a "mirror", we see our own care and love in them.
I can tell abt it very clearly, I have guard dogs.

I have to believe animals [or at least dogs and horses and hopefully cats] go to a heavenly place otherwise I would not be able to do dog rescue. I really don't know what happens to them since a Nun once told me "they are of different flesh." All I know is this - the Lord has taught me so much about myself through these dogs. Things I would never have learned on my own. I have looked into the eyes, into the very spirits of beloved dying dogs. At the moment they say goodbye. I will never ever ever forget that feeling. Connectedness. The sadness and the peace that follows. I know I will see them all again.

Every living creature has a soul. The word Nephesh can be translated living being, creature ect - Since a animal is a living being and a creature, it can have a soul.
Where does it go? Well, the Bible clearly states that the soul dies, and something immortal cannot die whatsoever.

They all do, my poodle who died 3 years ago, he was with me 18 years and he has visited me in the middle of the night, I have heard him sneeze (he was allergic to dust) I have heard him sneeze and his collar jiggle, I had company over and everyone heard him bark after he was dead for months. Animals have the most purest love and they indeed have souls. I do wonder that about some people though.

The souls of people are the thoughts of God.
So basically God created animals, it took thought.
That means they have a soul.

In my religion, animals do have souls. It's called the Nefesh. That's one of the reasons why we are forbidden to eat blood, because it contains the Nefesh of the animal.
