using there imagination. do they not ponder on what existence actually is or is that just a "waist of time". when ever i ask if they believe in anything outside what we know/see etc.. they often say "whats the point, we will never know"
but i find it fascinating just to see what my imagination comes up with. i don't believe in any religion or god but i do find pleasure in asking myself questions. my brain comes up with amazing images and ideas as to what exactly we have in-front of us. like if there are different dimensions.
like reading about string theory and m-theory just amazed me as a child, the thought that we can only perceive the three spatial dimensions and have only knowledge of our travel through the 4th (time) really opened my mind. there could be so many more.
so do atheists ever ponder over these ideas and enjoy just trying to look into there minds. or is it a waist of time, and we would be better off just worrying about our own little world that we have made?

ok. im gonna say this once again.. no one cares about spelling.!!! as long as the message gets across it doesnt matter at all, not one bit!! anyway, thanks for your answers. lol its funny seeing things from the other side, i used to be an atheist and kinda still am a bit. you get so defensive its too funny.
i wasnt asking you to tell me that many artistic people are creative lol. i was realy just trying to find opinions on how you see think and what you think about or if you try not to think about that stuff to much because you have better things to do etc.
but people seem to have plenty of time working as a spell checker(<<<). haha

I've pondered certaintly but never really come up with any real answers (probably because i lack the knowledge to truly grasp the concept of a theory such as string theory or m-theory). i usually go on a rant where questions come up then i answer some of them then more come up and i pace and pace and pace in a circle until i am dizzy then i am left with the feeling of frustration that i don't understand something. i get over it quickly enough when i start to read my book though.

Who are these "they" you are talking about? Do you know any atheists (outside of high school, that is)?
And another thing. You complain about people criticizing your spelling and then you say no one cares about it. What kind of sense does that make? If no one cared no one would criticize.
And how am I supposed to know you're English? It's usually possible to tell by the spelling, but of course you can't spell, can you?
Looks like you haven't had much practice looking into your own mind, so what right have you to go on at the rest of us?

It's one thing seeing what wonders the imagination can come up with, it's another thing believing those things to be true.
And I don't know any atheists who say "whats the point, we will never know" in regards to anything. Yes, they are willing to say "we don't know" in response to things they don't know, rather than making up an answer or assigning an answer to an invisible mystical being, but they don't end at "I don't know." All the scientific advancement in the world is proof of that. We will keep searching until we find answers to our questions or die.

Some of us are very artistic, and naturally the imagination is used a lot... I would also have to assume that even scientists use their imagination, else they'd never have things to study or figure out clues to answers.

Perhaps you were not aware how many artists, poets, novelists, playwrights, scientists, philosophers, and musicians are atheists.
We are among the most involved in dreaming about what the universe is comprised of, because for us, since we do not give its creation or maintenance over to an imaginary deity, we find the entire universe the source of great wonder.

I'm an art teacher...so do you think I'm imaginative?
It's waste by the way.
And I also am fascinated by string theory and other areas where we are just beginning to see how the universe works...

*sigh*
Of course we do. Why in the world we have to be religious to be creative? Are you saying that scientists and philosphers are not creative in their thinking if they are atheist? Might want to look into that because most *are* atheists.
I am an atheist, artist and published poet. Does that just blow your mind?
