If we make dictionary a pattern for our vocabulary why not make the Bible a pattern for our life.

Yep thats two distinct part of life but thats the way it should be.

A dictionary merely describes the way words are used. It is written by people describing how people speak.
It should not be considered the absolute authority on how a word can be used. Usage changes and dictionaries often (belatedly) reflect those changes. This is very different from how people use the Bible. The Bible claims to be an authority on what should be and claims to have divine revelation. The Bible is considered unchanging. Dictionaries acknowledge they are written by people, can be wrong, and they do change all the time.

Sometimes dictionaries aren't even very accurate on how a word is used. Take "atheist" for instance. Dictionaries often make the first definition someone who "disbelieves" in gods whereas most atheists actually say that the common denominator for atheists is that they don't believe in gods, not that they actively disbelieve.

Whether or not Webster was a real guy makes no difference to whether or not a dictionary accurately describes word usage. Whether or not Christ was historically real is central to a lot of Christians' understanding of the Bible.

Even as an off the cuff humorous analogy this just doesn't cut the mustard.

1. That may be part of why one should check 2 or more dictionaries. (Could 1 dictionary be incorrect? Could a person that is accurate 90% of the time be inaccurate 10% of the time)?
2. History books.

Well, yeah. The dictionary was written by man, to give the meanings of a language invented by man. And you know, Websters dictionary isn't the only dictionary published, as far as I am aware.
So, whats your point?

Webster never existed. There was a small council of men that worked together to make the most money for the company, and decided that they could scare people into giving all their money by making the definitions of all words ever hanging over the heads of all.

An old saying: 'Believe nothing of what you hear, 1/4 of what you read and only 1/2 of what you see with your own eyes.' No Sir, a dictionary is nothing but a book of words. It gives you nothing but lip service and you are smarter than that or you wouldn't have asked this question.

Some people can't even understand a dictionary let alone the bible. The language that was spoken in the days of the bible no longer exists.

The dictionary is fact and the words in it are man made even the ones you typed above. No one ever claimed the book was written by anyone other than mortal men. I dont see a comparison between the bible and the dictionary that's just plain silly.

You should not trust anything written by man. Can you prove that you exist? Or, is the proof written by man. However, I must point out to you that The Bible is God's written Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.

“Above all you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:20-21. (New International Version)
