I`m not great at history but people do need to research this a bit more, it goes way back beyond 1948 as i remember, the arabs ousted the ottomans before then and i`m sure the dispute goes back further. This land has been in dispute for centuries. I`m sure we will get a concise answer from some one who can be bothered having a good trawl through wikipedia - i can`t.
But i do know that it just isn`t true to think this land was taken from the Palestinians in 1948.
Why can`t they just accept it, both sides, and get on with making good lives for their children.
