My prescription is quite high (between -6 and -7 in contacts for both eyes) and when I switch between glasses and contacts, it seems like everything is much smaller while I am wearing glasses and everything looks big when I'm wearing my contacts. Do other people experience this? Also, which is closer to "normal", glasses or contacts?

its called "minification" and yes, most nearsighted people experience this to some degree. the higher the Rx, the more they experience it.

farsighted people get "magnification" or the opposite effect...everything seems bigger in glasses and smaller in contacts.

Because you are looking through concave lenses it will make things look smaller (this effect is more noticeable with stronger lenses). The same effect occurs with contact lenses. but is much less noticable (even though they are the same strength). This is because the contact lenses are positioned much closer to the place where the lenses within your eyes are located. (I'm trying not to get really technical about it) The size you see things with contacts is closest to the "actual" size ("actual" = the size things would look if you didn't need glasses).

Yes, the prescriptions are equivalent. It's because you switch to your contacts often. If you wore only glasses , that effect would go away after awhile and you wouldn't notice it any more.
