Gerbils shed hair just like any furry mammal. If I was a small prey animal and something had ME grabbed by the fur I'd certainly YANK my fur out to escape--the fur can grow back!

I wouldn't be concerned unless the area looks infected or red after 24 hours. (It probably is going to be agitated by the hair pull for at least a few hours--wouldn't yours?).

That has never happened to my gerbils before. Maybe the temperature in your gerbil's cage is too hot or too cold. Does your gerbil live alone? If so, he probably just is lonely. I don't know if you should be worried or not, sorry!

umm... i dont think they can loose their hair like that easily. But its ok, if he dies you can just buy another one for like ten bucks. But if u are really worried, call a vet and see what they say, even though they probably dont care about gerbils unfortuantely.
