I agree that a granola bar before exercising for energy would be best & then after you're done eat a banana for the potassium. Also, don't forget to hydrate yourself with lots of water before exercising & after. With temps getting so high & humidity soaring dehydration is always a concern when you are playing outdoor soccer. Hope this helps!

I usually have 3-4 dried apricots and a handful of peanuts. That gives me some carbs and some protein, but I only workout for 35 min. Soccer for 2 hours would need more fuel, I would think. I'd def. eat bananas AND a granola bar at least.
Plus water of course.

Eat fruits they are the best snacks. Eat a banana so to not get cramps and an apple for energy. Granola bars and peanuts are good too. Eat as much nutritious substances you can without feeling too full

An hour before you do an exercise like soccer, eat a fistfull of peanuts, 1/2 to a whole banana and a granola bar. Stop eating about 30 minutes before you play hard. Drink some water and let it all settle. The Dietary fiber in the granola bar will help suspend and hold all the food in your stomach and keep it from sloshing around. (thats what dietary fiber does along with form a nice turd)

The peanuts provide some protein and peanut oil (a source of calories)

The Granola bar will provide simple and complex carbs (for a now and later energy) as well as some good nutrients.

The banana will provide minerals and simple sugars for energy and keep your blood flowing and reduce acid burns in the muscles.

During the sport, drink some water and maybe a little gatorade (the salt is not bad for you, nor will it make you more thirsty if you are actuially exercising) and maybe another piece of fruit like apple or banana.

After hard exercise, drink some water and another piece of fruit or a chug on some gatorade, and if a banana is available, eating one of those within an hour of working out helps your body to repair from the muscle damage we get while exercising. Some protein like peanut butter is good within that first hour as well.

Playing soccer burns upward from 400 calories and hour, so if your playing for the whole 2 hours, you can burn 800 to 1000 calories depending on how much you weigh. Point is- dont worry about eating too many calories before, during or after your soccer games.

If anyone is interested in how this works for weight loss, you still need to eat close to the number of calories that you burn off to replenish your body and not pass out. The real trick to weight loss is to raise your base metabolic rate to burn more calories all day. Depriving your body of easy to access energy will make you more sluggish and irratable during and after working out until your body can get the energy from fat stores. Might as well have your body work on the fat stores all day long and have energy from the snacks while your exercising so you will have fun and enjoy the time you spend using your body for sport.

So, to answer the question at hand, eat a little of all that you mentioned, snack often, dont forget water and a little gatorade, and get some dietary fiber in your gut before you start running around chasing a ball.

Drink extra water after working out until your urine is mostly clear. Note- mostly clear, not clear. Clear means your probably drinking too much water, dark means your kidneys are finding too much salt and other waste in your blood. Too much waste is toxic and doesnt allow your muscles to repair quickly and makes it a little harder to burn fat stores for the rest of the day.

If I can help any more, let me know

If your exercise is related to fitness goals (ie: losing weight, etc) you should hold off and eat 'after' your exercise. Eating before actually counter-attacks any losses your hoping to achieve. Anything with protein directly afterwards will help promote lean muscles.

If your looking for energy, anything sugary (not necessarily healthy) will help give you some energy, along with a bunch of other foods. Personally, I'd stick to something low in fat for a pre-exercise snack.... (but personally) I'd holdout until after the game, etc.....

All depends on your goals.....

Banana, but only if you are dropping dead at the end of soccer. Best yet, have the banana after soccer for a pick me up and replenish the sodium and potassium that you lost from sweat.

Eating before exercise makes your body burn that fuel first, then getting tired, then if it MUST, it starts burning fat.

Eating afterwards gets your body used to burning stored fuel (fat) first, then whatever you eat afterwards, you burn as muscle replenishment, making a stronger, leaner you......

I would have to say the banana and peanuts. The banana will give you energy and potasium to reduce lactic acid build up and sore muscles. The peanuts will give you protein to build muscle. Don't forget to drink plenty of water during the exercise as well.

Unsalted Peanuts...the protein will give you the energy you need for the two hour practice. The banana would be good for after the two-hour workout. Have fun!

I was thinking "granola bar" before I opened your question. A granola bar with a banana would be good. :)
