I don't know much of anything about the faith of Jehovah's Witnesses so I can't come to a clear sense of what is going on here. One day at work I noticed my coworker was "different". It wasn't a different behavior, or altered body language, it was something else that I picked up on. I didn't quite understand it myself so I figured "oh, intuition". So, I asked him if he was ok. He turned to me and looked at me like I had caught him doing something he wasn't supposed to and answered, "yeah why?" I said out of concern, "oh you just seem different I wanted to make sure you were alright". He gathered up his things and on his way out the door he said "I don't LIKE it when people know me like that". Not trying to sound dumb but is there maybe something in his teaching that says that a persons intuition is bad? It kind of freaked me out because he got so freaked out about it. This has happened with other people and they took it quite well and actually confided in me with their "issue".

Later in the day I still felt badly for making him so uncomfortable so I said that I was sorry if I freaked you out, I'm not a mind reader, I was just concerned. He yelled out, "I HOPE you're not a mind reader!" and left the room. I tried making so-called amends but to no use I continually freaked him out.

mamab: he was not doing anything noticeably weird. He wasn't crying or complaining or making a face. It was just a feeling I had regarding him being in some form of distress.

Linedancer: I'm not judging. I am asking a question. I don't understand what happened that day. Common sense to ask a question if you don't know something. Tks for paying attention to my Question.

The question is: Does Jehovah's Witness faith teach that a person's intuition is wrong?

"Do Jehovah's Witnesses (believe) that a person's intuition is wrong?"

INTUITION:

"The act or faculty of knowing or sensing without the use of rational processes; immediate cognition. Knowledge gained by the use of this faculty; a perceptive insight. A sense of something not evident or deducible; an impression." -American Heritage Dictionary

If you are ONLY referring to a person's intuition according strictly to the dictionary's rendition, then there is nothing wrong with someone NATURALLY having a "perceptive insight" on something. The Bible even speaks positively of "those who have their POWERS OF DISCERNMENT trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil." -Heb. 5:14 (ESV)

However, if you are referring to some kind of power that may be assisted by some spiritistic force, that is something entirely different. Christians are warned by the Bible to not practice spiritism:

Certainly being a witness doesn't make someone wierd. I am one and I am perfectly normal. Maybe he has some personal issues of his own or that he is just having a bad day.

When the word "intuition" is understood independently of the supernatural, then Jehovah's Witnesses have no issue with acknowledging that experience and perception can give one person an insight that might evade another person.

That experience that you had with that individual
sounds more like his personality than what our
beliefs are.

Are you judging an entire organization by the actions of one individual?

No, we do not.

Your coworker probably has some problems just like any of us.
