We have a one-year-old who is obsessed with fetching! We throw coins, paper balls, paint brushes, pencils, you name it, and he will bring it back and "cry" until we throw the object again; this could go on for hours if we allowed it. I'm also starting to be concerned that he is never going to willingly drink from his dish again-- he loves water from the bathroom faucet and cries until he gets to drink. Will he ever chill out?Anyone else have similar issues or does our cat need some psychological help?

LOL My cat Seth is now 9 years old and STILL loves to play fetch. There's nothing wrong with this at all. You've got to remember that he's still very young and has a lot of energy to burn. Make the most of interactive play with your cat as most don't bother when they get older.
As for not drinking from a bowl, that's quite normal too :) both of my cats drink from the tap and from a glass I leave for them. Cats like to drink from running water as they often have trouble seeing water that is calm, both my cats put their paws in their water bowl before they drink.
Don't worry about these things..he will calm down as he gets older.

You could try putting a clean stone or small rock in his bowl to break up the surface, it worked for my sisters cat.

My cat does the same thing. He loves to play fetch and will only leave you alone when he is tired of playing. He also knocked over every water bowl I ever tried. I got a drinkwell fountain and it was the best $40 I ever spent. He drinks out of it like it's a faucet and no longer spills water or drinks from other faucets. Good Luck!!

They like what they like, and some things they REALLY like, such as fetching. It's fun and they just can't get enough but usually eventually they find something else.

Go along with the fetching, your cat is getting exercise doing it and if he brings it back all you have to do is sit there so it's a win/win situation.

The drinking you can encourage by leaving special coffee mugs around filled with water. Some cats love the idea of drinking out of yours 'on the sly' rather than using a regular water bowl. Leave one in the bottom of the sink for him and see if he goes along with that instead of needing running water.

There's also those fountain water bowls that cater to cats that like their water moving. Don't know how expensive they are, but they do encourage cats to drink.

I think your cat is totally normal. That is so cool that he fetches, none of my cats have done that, I wish one of them would, and it's normal, lots of cats do fetch. As far as drinking water from the faucet, lots of cats do that too. If you can leave the faucet on a dribble for him that would be great. Sounds like you've got a great cat.

Grl your cats not no weirdo. He's just a normal cat that likes to have fun. Your cat will eventually start to drink out of his bowl. cuz one of ma neighbors had a cat that drink from the faucet too. but if u just train him by taken him over to the bowl n show him where the water is he might start goin over there. just give it some time n it should work out. he still young yet.

no but I don't have those problems but the cat must be very active. Probelmty just wants some attention. maybe if she/he gets a little older it will be different. if no drinking any kind of water you should take him to the vet.
