Or is that scripture "out of context" too?

It is a sin if you remarry, as in adultery.

Several groups have a greater than average incidence of suicide. These high-risk groups usually are indicative of a larger problem leading to their decision.

These groups include:

* Males 65 and older.
* People who have lost a spouse, especially empty-nesters.
* People in poor health, especially those with chronic pain and/or with a terminal illness.
* Males who have recently divorced.
* Ethnic minorities
* Criminals on the run.
* Victims of spousal abuse.
* People who live in metropolitan areas.
* POWs, refugees, and internally displaced persons.
* The economically disadvantaged, usually those who are living in poverty and those who are homeless.
* Closeted homosexuals and bisexuals.
* Transsexuals, especially male-to-females.
* Youth aged 15-24 are, as a whole, not a high-risk group.

That's what I think the fuss about gay marriage is REALLY about. If gay marriages enjoy a higher success rate than "traditional" marriages' 50% rate? Boy, would their faces be red!

Maybe that's why my own marriage is working out so well: I'm too preoccupied with it to be concerned about who else is marrying whom.

It must just be incredibly hard for some people who claim that they follow a God of love to actually *snickers!* show it. Do you think it ever occurs to them that they are their own worst problem? Casting judgement everywhere is NOT going to win anyone else over. In fact it keeps many of us away and grateful for the distance.

It's interesting to see how folks talk about these Christians being so judgmental. This seems to be a problem with all of humanity. But to answer your question, divorce and remarrying for any reason other than death or adultery is sin, just as living a lifestyle of homosexuality is. Just because one has divorced doesn't mean that they should now compromise everything they believe, but instead they must ask forgiveness and turn their heart away from doing that which is displeasing in the eyes of God, while still holding fast to the principles of holiness.

Your question takes a lot of assumptions and posits them as facts. Assuming that you are truly interested in a true response and not pure sophistry, here goes: 1) The bible does allow for divorce under certain conditions as codified under the Mosaic laws. 2) I do not not know where you got your facts and statistics from, that christians have the highest rate of divorce or condone divorces or that a rape victim has to stay with her rapist 3) gay couples have civil unions which gives them the very rights you say are denied them 4) By its very definition, marriage is a union between a man and a woman and one of their goals is procreation. While it may not be politically correct to say, the goal of procreation is impossible in any gay relationship and the human race would cease to exist if marriages between heterosexual couples is considered the same as a homosexual one in every aspect with no difference other than the obvious. 5) Finally, you have members of the gay and lesbian community who claim they knew from ages 3 that they were gay, can change from being gay one day to being heterosexual the next, and deny any biological basis (read hormonal imbalance) for the way they are. Plus the bible has at least two very clear instances of how the creator felt about homosexuality. I do not condone any type of discrimination against homosexual people such as in the areas of job, housing, career, or violence directed at them. As an aside, do the people who say they are bisexual also the same as those who are heterosexual or homosexual and what should society do if they ask to marry both men and women?

I love jesus_theonlywaytolife's answer - she is absolutely right. To God, a sin is a sin is a sin. Kill a man or steal a postage stamp, both are sins against the 10 Commandments.

No one is perfect. We all sin, regardless of our religious persuasion. Even Christians. The problem is, some Christians are so high-and-might, looking down their noses at everyone else's sin, while they commit the same sins.

My belief is that if we all have to answer to God on Judgment Day, He will harshly judge those Christians who not only sinned, but then felt it their place to judge and criticize others for the same sins.

So what on Earth has this to do with gay marriage ?? Suicide is also a sin , and homosexuals have a rate of suicide FAR higher than NY group ! Why is that ??

BTW divorce is NOT a sin if the reason is adultery ! Look it up if you`re so concerned !

Besides , your question is absolutely ridiculous to begin with !

Good Question, my Dear One. I've been married to my Best Beloved for almost 27 years (well, spiritually if not legally and definately monogamously!) Our marriage has outlasted all of our straight friends and from what I'm hearing on the forums, most gay unions are outlasting straight unions. I love her more todya than yesterday; but not as much as tomorrow the song goes. I wish more folks could find that sort of love. Christians who could find that type of deep soul-fulfilling love would stop hating their neighbors and starting loving them.
Bless us all. We need it.

My pastor.

Well, probably if I had a pastor, that is.

Wow, look at the denial! DIVORCE IS A SIN in almost all cases, people. Sorry your friends and loved ones are sinners just as bad as the gays.

I must say that I am amazed. Christians saying that divorce is not a sin? Did they not take an oath before God that it was till death? How can breaking an oath taken before God not be a sin? "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder."

*sighs*

Divorce isn't a sin? Lol, talk about your technicalities!

Well, getting remarried after divorce is adultery, which is a sin.

A lot of Christians don't realize that homosexuality, adultry, lust, fornication, and marriage after divorce are all equal to God. Homosexuality is no worse than heterosexual sin.

But divorcing and then staying single isn't a sin.
