Several people like April, but I am more in favor of May: temperatures are warmer, the sky is more blue and the Japanese tourist are still away. Besides, Italians enjoy to go out in the evening and in May restaurants and bars are more likely to put tables outside. Rome in May is like Paris in June. There is something in the air!

I am not sure when the best time is. We were in Rome in late March and it was beautiful. We needed light jackets, but we were totally comfortable. Some days warmer than others, but we were still able to keep our windows open during the morning for fresh air.

I'm for May too...cause then u can see flowers on Spanish Steps which is a quite special view...not sure whether they are there in april. Maybe in May there are more tourists there but still last year I spent August in Rome and survived...:)
