I can't remember what my vet said. I have given dogs baby asprin before, I thought that my vet said it was ok to give them liquid baby tylenol as long as I gave her half of the lowest dose. Now some people are telling me it can kill my dog. Any opinions? This is a serious question. I can't afford the prescribed meds and my dog only needs it every so often.

I'm not stupid. I was simply asking a question. If I don't have to waste my vet's time I'd rather ask other people who might be able to help.

Private P- Just so you know. My dog is a rescue. She was born deaf and the vet was going to put her to sleep. My entire life has changed by taking this dog. I would never give her up for adoption. I was simply asking a question to some people who do have some knowledge. I have been given good answeres on here before. I love my dog and would never do anything to harm her. And like giving her up to a shelter would really do her any good. It was a legitimate question. It's not like I am asking something stupid like some of the people on here.

FYI!!!! She is not hurt! She is fine. This question came up in conversation with a friend and I said I wasn't sure which was better. Neither of our dogs are hurt or ill. If this was an emergency I wouldn't be wasting time on the internet. I would be calling my vet. I was asking a question. It's not like I asked the best way to skin my dog and cook her for dinner. I asked a legtitmate question. Did you read everything I asked? Geez people. Thanks to those who were kind in their answers and didn't act like I was a total idiot. There are plenty of other idiotic questions on here. Go abuse those people, not someone who SIMPLY ASKED A LEGITIMATE QUESTION!!!!

OK OK OK! You all really aren't getting the point and you are answering without reading everything I have posted. Get off of your high horses people. I knew that you could give your dog baby asprin and I have been told (by my sister in law who is a vet) that baby tylenol is okay in certain doses. I ASKED A QUESTION!!!! Do you all answer every person who asks a question this way??? It's a d@mn question. Do you really think I would get advice for my dogs health over the internet? If she was in serious danger or seriously ill or injured I wouldn't be wasitng time on here. I would be rushing her to the vet. Sionce when does a person get viciously attacked for asking a question? A simple freakin question. A simple yes or no would be sufficent. No comments about my financial situation are needed. No telling me to get rid of my dog because of this question. Think before you answer and read the entire question!

I am not yelling. I am simply asking a question. My sister in law is a vet. I watched walk across the stage and receive her diploma from the University of Missouri. I asked becauseI have been told different things. Yes you can and no you can't. I have had vet's tell me this to. I am sorry if you think I was yelling. I was insulted by people treating me like I was stupid and endangering my dogs life. She doens't need the medicine right now. She has in the past and I was curious because I couldn't remember. Usually any questions I have asked on here have been answered in a kind manner. This is the first time I have been treated like this. I am sorry if it seemed like I was 'backtracking'. It was a serious question because sometimes people answer with a very smarta$$ comeback. Thank you for calling your vet. I appreciate the time you took to do so. But why would one vet tell me it's okay and then another say it can hurt the dog.
I'm done with this question and I am sorry I asked it.

I don't understand why you are yelling. In the first part of your question you state "this is a serious question. I can't afford the prescribed meds and my dog only needs it every so often".

Then later, all you do is yell and tell people that your sister in law (who you claim is a vet) says that it is ok to give your dog tylenol. You state that your dog doesn't actually need the medicine, you just want to know, and you state later that this question is just made up

Which is it? Made up or serious?
Which is it? Your dog needs meds or it doesn't?

I would never ever trust that what people on here say about human medication for dogs is ok or not ok. They have not inspected your dog. They don't know its history, they don't know what it is allergic to, they don't know how old, they don't know the breed, they don't know the weight.

If you really want to know - call your vet - even if it is a made up question!! Call them and give them the made up question - they will answer it right then and there and you won't have to listen to rantings and raving from people who are totally confused over your question because you have totally confused them by backtracking all over the place.

Watch - here I am on the phone calling my vet -

Baby aspirin yes

Baby tylenol - no - it can kill cats and it can cause major problems in dogs - there - heard it from a vet. and they were really nice and said "we appreciate you asking!"

I know that Tylenol will kill a cat but I'm not sure about a dog. You may need to call your vet back and ask them for sure. I know most vets now are even saying that the buffered asprins can be harmful to your dog.

Tylenol could kill your dog. If your dog is in a lot of pain, call your vet and talk to him. He might suggest Aspirin, but he will want to know the weight of the dog and would probably want to see the dog first. Do it right and give your dog something that won't kill it.

No, don't give your dog tylenol. It is toxic. You can give your dog baby asprin but not tylenol. It'd be a good idea to call your vet now.

No tylenol. Call your vet about the dose size of "Asprin" to give to your dog according to weight and reasoning.

Tylenol is very bad for dogs, stick to baby aspirin pill or liquid (up to you) just do as the vet said to. All the best;~)

Tylenol is toxic to dogs. Call your vet for the right thing to give your dog.

I'm not sure about Tylenol, but I know you can give them baby aspirin. We gave our older dog ST. Joseph's chewables every other day to help with his arthritis. I'd call a vet.

Well if you call your vet they are only going to back up there products they sell whether tylenol is good for dogs or not. However, tylenol is made for humans so I would say it is bad.

NO TYLENOL for your dog.

You are able to afford internet -- so you are able to afford meds for your dog If it means being offline, so be it.

Your dog doesn't have a choice in the matter and neither do you.
