Let me tell you, I got my first tattoo at eighteen with many considerations. I made the initial decision at sixteen, then my mom told me to wait, and I did. During that time, I asked myself: a) do I really want this, b) why do I want this, and c) can I live with the results. If I had not been able to give myself an honest answer that I felt comfortable with (i.e just to be cool, it's the in thing, or other superficial reasons), then I would not have gone through with it. I got both of my tattoos for the symbolism involved and for the fact that it is art. A lot of thought went into what I got as well. My first is a rose. I picked it because of the fact that I am a rose by nature and always will be and because I have always loved roses and flowers ever since I can remeber. My second one is a treble clef set in a heart. I am a musician and have a passion for music. Passion does not die. As far as it looking bad in the future, if it is taken care of right and put in a place that isn't affected by wieght fluctuations, then it will look good. As far as the pregnancy thing goes, most women wait until after pregnancy. Also, who gives a damn what you think.

why don't you people (the ones who constantly ask these questions) realize that regardless of whether we have tattoos or not we will still get old, we will still get wrinkly and some people will definitely get fat. tattoos don't change that fact.
i really don't give a crap what my tattoos will look like when i am 50 because i'll be fifty regardless. and i probably won't be wearing hip hugging jeans and halter tops with high heels. i won't be out on the town on the weekends trying to pick up some young hot guys.
i'll be some rad hippie like chick who is so excited that she is retired and can chill out for the rest of her life. why do you care what i'll look like then? i have thought about it and i am fully aware of the possibilities.
AND just so you know i met a woman earlier this year who is in her fifties and she has been getting tattooed since her twenties. her tattoos look phenomenal. and i actually have pictures of her in a tattoo book from when she is twenty so i know what her tattoos looked like before too.

Yes we do think. We think long and hard about how an a** like you will never see that "tramp stamp" Do people, especially closed minded ones, ever think that maybe it's ok for others to do whatever they want without listening to people like you? Or should I say "read what people like you write"? Speaking of which, if you are gonna complain about us "tattooed people" who don't think, check your spelling and grammar please. It just makes you look closed minded AND dumb.

Do people, like you, EVER think before posting these type of questions? I got a tattoo young, it is meaningful, I don't give a crap about how it will look in 20, 30+ years. It will still have that same meaning no matter how saggy I get.

I just read what Robin Williams the comedian said about those band of thorns around the upper arms,--- later in life they look like picked fences. And someone else said those roses on the breast look like long stemmed roses after awhile. I guess on Kat Von D ( from LA Ink) everything looks beautiful!

I do not have any tatts on my body and I am 24. I don't know if part of the reason that I don't have any is due to the fact that I don't know what I would get and there isn't anything that is stricking to me to keep on my body forever.
And then part of the reason that I don't is because I do not want to have something on my body in the future like that.
I think that it is an "it" thing to do. People now figure that they can get them removed and not have to worry about what they look like in the future and then the other factor that I believe is the real true reason. Is that people my age cannot see themselves getting older- it is a hard thing to think about and see in the near future.

I pointed out as a feminist and agnostic whilst i replaced into 19, have not replaced that view in 30 years. yet I additionally replaced into very quiet and introverted until eventually my 30's, as quickly as I have been given extra confident, did no longer care what maximum folk theory anymore, and quite of being a quiet feminist, I grew to become an outspoken feminist. I grew up until eventually now abortion replaced into criminal, until eventually now the tablet replaced into broadly disbursed, whilst there have been women human beings's jobs and adult adult males's jobs, and you could desire to no longer stick to for the different gender's activity. I keep in mind whilst "in basic terms undesirable human beings have been raped, incest and newborn molestation not often if ever befell, and in basic terms undesirable human beings have been batterers", or so it replaced into mentioned..... i could not at all choose to have lived until eventually now feminists replaced our society.

Here is the thing, those of us with tattoos DO actually think about that and here is the kicker, we don't care if our tattoos are wrinkled by then! Everyone ages. It's still our body and if taken care of properly will look great even as old farts and nagging grams. Personally, I'd rather have more than scars to tell stories about, at least tatttoos aren't just blobs of scar tissue that your body can't heal fully. Did you ever stop to think that we did this for ourselves and not you? Please, stop judging.

First off please stop calling any type of tattoo a "tramp stamp".
I am female & almost 50, I have 25 tattoos and all of them look just as good as they did when I first got them, despite the fact that I have lost and then gained a good amount of weight.
If the person that has tattoos doesn't care what they will look like as they age, body changes, etc., then why do you?
