What kind of lights did they use and where did they position them to get them on the ceiling AND the fabric swags? I don't see any light bulbs anywhere. Do you know how it was done and what they used?

That was probably done by a professional lighting company. You can get them for about the same price as flowers and you can see what a huge impact it makes. Something like that is one of the few things that are not more cost effective to DIY.

Look in the phone book under production companies, lighting rentals, or call the playhouse and get refferals from them.

If you really need to know though it's just X-mas lights behind some sheer fabric with a blue uplighting that has a filter on it. Look at the front left in the picture and you can see the black stand with one of the lights on it.

It's a special spot lighting, the canisters are black and hidden behind and next to the curtains, they also have special filters to create the design. Anyone who has studied stage lighting or worked on professional stages can probably show you how. Try a local school that teaches lighting & sound techs or a local semi-pro theater. A good lighting tech is usually happy to explain how these work and how you might get a similare look.

This was definitely done by a professional company that does lighting and fabric. The fabric is hung with metal frames, the fabric hides the frames. They can cover whole rooms, change the color of the whole room. So if your reception site is not that great looking, you can make it amazing!
