I am looking for a online service or a place to retrieve my w2 records. I would prefer not to have to pay for my own records?

go to website IRS.GOV; download Form 4506 and request W2 to be sent to you. FREE. I don't believe there is a place on line to retreive them your self not unless you can get from your employer website

If you don't have them with your tax records, either call your former employers and ask for copies, or request copies from the IRS.

There isn't a website where you can just go and download them.

if you filed taxes online you could then retrieve the information from the site you used. Otherwise you'll have to call your employers' HR depts and have them ordered.

You get your IRS issued W-2s in 1-2 business days from Accuverify.com

The IRS intentionally does not put your W-2's online. They are concerned about privacy, fraud, identity theft, etc.
