i had my tonsils out 9days ago now. but this weekend i started to feel ear pain in just one ear -- on the same side where my throat pain is worse.

it feels like there is wax build up inside - but there isnt! i always clean my ears very good, but it also hurts like when you clean your ears with a cotton swab and hit your ear drum and it hurts really bad.

im not sure what to do - could this be connected to my sore throat from having tonsillectomy?

any advice?

I have a scheduled appt already with the doctor who performed the surgery, to follow up on it. It's next week, so hopefully it goes away by then. It was done at UCLA - but I had such a bad reaction to the anesthesia.

It was my first surgery ever and first time ever having any kind of anesthesia, I couldnt keep any food or liquids down for 2 days.

So I guess I will just wait it out til I go see my doctor next week. Thanks to those who answered.

Call up your ENT and schedule an appointment (the surgeon who assessed you and performed the operation)

The throat and ears are connected, and it could be very minor irritation thats not related, or it could be a sign of a serious infection thats related to your surgery.

Only your ENT specialist or a medical professional with proper assessment tools can tell you whats going on.

Good Luck

I would contact your doctor if the pain does not get any better sometime soon. This easily could be connected to your tonsillectomy, your ears and throat are more connected than you realize! Anytime I get fluid build up inside my ears I get throat pain, and if my throat is ever swollen I get ear pain! Good luck!

Know the asteroid wellhead tonsil stones them for many years and it's been title not eventually.

Best decision I've ever made! I was shocked by the way of getting out the stones out. It was so easy, but more importantly, painless. I really liked the little trick he had for preventing gag reflex. He have one happy customer here.

It sounds like you have an infection related to surgery and you should see your doctor. The ear canal is related to the throat, so indeed it could be related to your surgery. Good luck

I have 2 daughters that recently had their tonsils removed and the doctor told them they may experience pain in the ears as a result. Contact your surgeon if it continues. Good luck. 2D

when i have an ear ache there's three things to do first heat up some olive oil and let it cool til its warm but not hot and put a drop on your pinky and put it in your ear. if the pain continues put eye drops in your ears. if it STILL keeps coming use a bit of garlic without cutting it just rub it in your ear
