I've noticed that my granddaughter is bordeline breaking the first commandment (Exodus 2: 2-6) with her constant worship of Zac Efron. I am going to show her some pictures and movie clips of Marlon Brando when he was young, and then show her some pictures of Marlon Brando when he was fat and ugly. My whole point is that physical beauty is only temporary, but I don't know where to take it from there. Thanks in advance.

I''m afraid it is more than a schoolgirl crush. She has an entire wall in her bedroom covered in Zac posters and cut-outs from magazines. It's like an altar or something!

1. Get the child a hobby. Sign her up for a sport, an after school class, teach her to knit.... anything. She will have less time for teen worship, and it will help broaden her horizons.
2. Stop buying her Zac Efron stuff! If every time you take her to the store she starts whining for stuff with this guy on it, and you get it for her... STOP IT.
3. Try actually explaining the situation to her in a normal, person-to-person way. Just discuss it with her like an adult. I bet she will appreciate being thought of as old enough to handle a grown-up talk. And studies show that the best thing a parent (or Grandparent) can do for a child is TALK to them!
See option 1 and find something you two can do together that doesn't involve this teen star.
Good luck =)

he may have been fat & ugly but his island in Fiji is paradise. She will grow out of her crush, we all had our teen idols and showing pictures of people getting old just isn't going to do it. We all know we are going to get old and less attractive. Thank goodness her idol is someone who she will probably never meet and consumate that desire, small blessings in everything. Oh and my wall was covered with Sean Cassidy pictures, then later Adam Ant and I can't remember all of them, my sister Scott Baio, it's normal. And yes you do rather sound a bit like the Carrie movie mom, and look what Carrie did, let her have some freedom to be normal.

OH MY FREAKING GOD!
Why in the hell do you care? If you were my grandmother I'd be worried that you were crazy.
She just likes Zac Efron. My friend, who's an extremely strict mormon, loves Pete Wentz. She'll even lick pictures of him. But she still worships God more.
You're a freak, old woman.

i don't see how having a major crush on a celebrity is borderline breaking a commandment. let her be. she's just a kid. this is her parents business anyway.
we've all done something like this. it's not an altar it's just a crush. just wait. soon,a new celebrity will take the place of the one she loves now.

Why do you care if she is a fan of Efron? She does not see him as a God, for christ's sake.
Lighten up and get a real life.
Young girls have crushes on good looking boys. GET OVER IT!
