I've never heard of burnt butter being hard to remove either.
If you have baked on hard to remove foods a good thing to soak pots or casseroles with is dishwasher detergent. It is very strong and soaks stuff off very well. I don't have a dishwasher but I do have a small box of detergent just for this purpose.

Burnt butter should have caramelized unless you have left it that long that you have holed the saucepan?
It shouldn't be that difficult, just put in water bring to the boil and let it boil for awhile, being careful not to let it boil dry, then wash out.

if it's on the inside, put some water in it and bring it to a boil. let it simmer a few minutes then take it off the heat. when it's cool, you should be able to clean it easily. i've never heard of burned butter being hard to remove.
