I originally join facebook to keep in touch with my friends who went off to college. I never once thought of it as an online dating site. Anyway, I added this guy as my friend a while back and every now and then he will send me a message and I respond to them. Well now it's been two months of us going back and forth with the messages. Now he has sent me a message saying he wants to meet up with me and he left his number. I'm not really into meeting up with people that I meet off the Internet, and besides if he thinks he can meet up with me that easily, it will kind of make me look like the easy girl that hooks up with Internet strangers. How can I reply to his request without coming off too harsh?

In his messages- is he elluding to trying to get in your pants or does he seem genuine in wanting a friendship at first? I say meet him in a public place with two friends with you. There's no harm in meeting someone off the net. Live a little!! Just remember-public place and a friend or two.

i would not meet up with this person. my guess is that he's hoping you'll somehow be so smitten by his rugged good looks that you'll dump your boyfriend on the spot, or at least forget about him for the afternoon. there's a lot of bad things that could happen with a meet up like this, and if you're happy with your boyfriend and don't feel the urge to move across the country, there aren't many good things that could come out of this. have you met him in person before, or is he just an e-friend? if he's just an e-friend DO NOT MEET UP. if you have met him before, i still think not much good can come from it...

If you honestly have no intentions of meeting him then don't and just tell him that. On the other hand I met a girl off facebook in almost the exact same situation. It's not at all strange to want to meet someone you've been talking to. If you want to meet in a public place he could turn out to be a really cool guy.

I too am communicating with a friend I met online....on myspace. We have been talking for hours on end at times, and are pretty close (at least it seems that way). I would NEVER< NEVER< NEVER meet him in person. We both know that we are "online" friends, and we tell each other almost everything, but you have to have some boundaries. You have no clue who this person is in real life. He may have fabricated everything he told you online. Please play it safe and keep this friendship via the net :) If he is a true friend, he will understand your hesitation.

Why did you add the poor guy as a friend in the first place? You've probably led him on by talking to him for two months, and I don't think his request is out-of-line.

If you don't want to meet him, just tell him... And tell him why. He'll understand.

Maybe like I'm not into meeting up with Internet strangers and I can't (say you are busy?) or meet him with a group of friends.

Tell him your not totally comfortable with meeting up with guys you meet online........he should understand and if he doesn't than he's probably some crazy internet-stalker. Maybe start off with a phone call instead.

well if he doesnt live near you then you can just use that as an excuse but if he does, then just say that your;; too busy, having stressful times, or somethin like that. dont say its weird meeting up with ppl u dont know or that u feel uncomfortable. even tho it doesnt sound too harsh to you, itll probably feel harsh or mean to him.

good luck =]
