There was one that lived under our basement stairs. I was terrified of it and wouldn't go down there for anything. He was always waiting to grab your feet through the spaces between the steps. When I got older I realized the monster was imaginary and the fear vanished. There was nothing under the steps but a few cobwebs.
Knowing the ability of the human imagination to cause something to seem real, don't you think there may be other imaginary beings you may have been holding on to?

There is nothing up in the sky but air.

Bosco, your stubborn refusal to think outside your own predefined box blind you to the use of metaphor? oh, please.

When I was a pre-schooler there was an evil witch that lived under my bed and would snatch me down into her lair if I put my feet on the floor. I was held prisoner in my bed every night by her. She was totally gone by the time I was 6. Some people are held prisoner all their lives by such things.

You have answered your own question with a statement of your belief."There is nothing up in the sky but air."
So what holds the sky up or stops worlds from colliding. What makes worlds. Have you looked past the sky and seen the stars. Who made them. Who made the trillions of galaxies.
Ah, You should get out more. Open your mind and imagine that you just were here. Poof. Shaking my head :)???

I can't really remember anything for myself ... but my daughter has some very strange fears ... she's 4 now .. I'd say a few months ago she finally got over the fear of PLASTIC POPPING PAPER ... it was the funniest thing ... every time she would hear one of the bubbles pop she would freak out and start crying .. all you had to do was show her popping paper and she would run as fast as she could from you ... lol ... most kids have a blast running around popping all the bubbles .. nope not my daughter ... I'm sure glad she finally got over that fear .. especially with Christmas coming up and all ... haha ... ! Ok I thought of one for myself ... when I was younger my grandma use to take me shopping all the time in the malls ... well the one thing I use to hate was the escalators .. I always thought they were going to suck me under and cut me up .. I use to dream about not jumping off in time and one toe at a time would get sucked under ... I still kinda do a little jump off the escalators to this day just out of habit ... lol ... !

I dreamed Freddy was at the head of my bed but that was after my dad let me watch it over and over.
That was a dream more than my imagination.
God maybe imaginary to some but not to the many that have experienced and seen the same thing happen all at one time.

What do you mean when I was little... I still have a monster in my closet and I'm 30. At night I can see the crack in the door get bigger and bigger (although the door never really opens)... No, I'm not on drugs... Just extremely afraid of the dark!

I never truly believed there was a monster under my bed or anything, but I could never sleep with my feet uncovered. I always had that thought that something would grab them if I left them uncovered.

There is something inside each person's spirit-life and love-and that is God.

I still have a monster living in my attic-he eats small children and yippy dogs. My cat thus far has avoided incedent.

Peace,
Dwight

Yes, for the sky only consists of air paricles. It is very hard for a person of science to enter heaven, for one must think like a child to obtain true faith.

Apparently this is intended as a clever reference to the concept of a Supreme Being.
I don't know of any religion that claims God lives "up in the sky". Perhaps in your own imagination, but certainly not in Catholic theology - or any other theology,as far as I know. Source for this presupposition?

We had mice and rats--that was more scary than any monster one could dream up.

I would pray every night that they never got on the bed.
God must have heard my prayers.

My "sky daddy" does exist.
