I was just wondering because I know that now they are air assault and it's the 82nd that are still paratroopers.

Have it written in your contract.

I earned my Air Assault Badge in September 1985.

I was there as an enlisted man and I wish I had done more bowling instead of eating hamburgers at the PX.

SSG Gerlisky's last unit ended being my first active duty unit. He died in 2000 from cancer due to Agent Orange. He was a great man that visited my parents the 4 years that I was active duty.

No recruiter will ever do this unless they are family.

The following units were disbanded and existed from 1983 to about 2005. Their flags were retired for eternity since they did not have a history compared their respective histories 1st and 2nd battalions of the 327th regiment and 502nd regiment.

Battleforce: 3rd Battalion/327th Infantry of 1st Infantry Brigade
and
Strike Force: 3rd Battalion/502nd Infantry of 2nd Infantry Brigade

If you are not in the Army yet ask to go Air Assault in your contract and ask for FT Campbell also. you don't have to be high speed to go there but once you get there you better bring your A game or you are going home. If you are already in the Army then when you reenlist ask for it . You can also submit a 4187 requesting the school. it is not hard to get it. and making it through is just a lot of running

There are a few ways. If you are already in contact your branch manager a year before your next change of station. If you are getting ready to re-enlist have it written into your contract to be stationed at Fort Campbell, where they are posted. If you are just joining have your recruiter write it in your contract. The 101st is not a tough unit to get into, it is just a tough unit to be in.

Ask for it. While it isn't Special Forces or a Ranger unit or even the 82d, it's still very competitive. High PT scores and evaluation from superiors that say you're highly motivated will help.

You can apply for and get training in Air Assualt. Similiar to going to Airborne training. You just have to apply for it.

Luck or reenlist for it. Great history but it is now a LEG Division. Every single time I have reenlisted it was one of my options.
