That depends on where you live.

Ok, let's start at the top.

One: When you enter a bar you are stating you are 21 or over - your ID will be checked in most cases and a fake ID will get you in a lot of trouble if discovered, don't do it! It is against the law to drink alcoholic beverages in most of the US and you should abide by the law. I check everyone under 30! Yep under 30 and have found some as old at 41 look under 30!

Two: If you enter the bar and your ID is NOT checked and you are served then the establishment has put their license on the line and could be shut down for serving to a minor and you will be fined possibly, chance you take.

Three: If you want to have a good time with your 23yr old friend, go to a restaurant that serves alcohol and she can order her alcoholic drink and you can order the same as a virgin drink (no alcohol), they look the same on the table, only you and the server know the difference.

Four: Be sensible and do the right thing. You are under 21 for 21 years and then you are over 21 for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!

Good luck, have a great time with your friend. :)

The answer depends on the state you live in. I am responding with the information for Texas. In the State of Texas it is permissible for the parents, legal guardian or spouse (if they are over 21) to purchase alcohol for a minor. This puts a bar in a serious situation so the TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) has granted the bar the right to refuse the service if they know the sale is for a minor.

If you are found in possession of a fake ID you can be arrestted and charged with a felony of Forgery of a State Issued Document. This will be on your record for the rest of your life. Do you really want to take that chance.

Instead of asking a bunch of people who may not know what they are talking about you should contact the local law enforcement agency/ies about what the local laws are and how they are interpreted.

Back in the good ol' days, when the legal drinking age was 18 and I was 16 or 17, my dad would sometimes let me order a beer when out to dinner with the parental units.

I don't know that I was ever refused service, but they were a lot more lax about IDs then, too.

Bottom line: Order a drink. If they ask for an ID, say you left it at home and stay sober.

If not, enjoy.

I don't think so. I used to hear an old story that if your parents were buying it for you then it was legal. I don't think thats true. It probably would be up to the discretion of the bar owner and state law. Due to liability reasons, I would say your screwed unless the bar owner knows you. Since your a girl, I would say as long as your cool about it, you will be fine. Just don't get stupid.

I used to do this all the time with my dad. When your with your parents you have a good chance of getting away with it. The problem will be getting in. If the bar is 21 and over, they may check ID's at the door. If you do get in, and your parents are there, stay in the background and don't get drunk (or loud) and you should be fine. Have fun.

Bert and Lance are right...
I know in wisconsin this scenario is legal... Most states it is not.
Canada, or other countries, you would not be asking.
Now you didn't ask if it was legal, just can you do it?
Your best bet would be to go to an ethnic restaurant, that, in their culture, this is acceptable. Greek, Italian, Irish, Turkish....
Also if your friend orders a expensive BOTTLE of wine with two glasses, your server is unlikely to ask for ID's, fear of lossing a good sale. Tip him/her well, but not rediculous.
I am sure you know this, but... don't drive, most states have HARSH underage drinking laws. Your freind would fare much better than you, of course, a safe ride is encouraged.

If you make it through the door, and your parents say it's ok, then why not?? But, since you say it's a 21&Over bar, they might be pretty strict on letting underage people in- Remember, if they get caught serving YOU drinks, THEY get fined-not you or your parents. So you should just check how strict it is. Other than that, go for it... Hey, ur parents say its ok, so it must be!

No sorry. The law states that you must be 21 to consume alcoholic beverages. Even if your parents consent. I have been a waiter/bartender for years and the rules are pretty clear on that. Get yourself a good fake ID.

Wear something sexy and do your makeup in a way that might make you look a little older. Go to a bar that has lots of people in it already. Take a trip to the restroom while your friend orders the first drink. More than likely, you will have other guys buy you drinks the rest of the night.....Cheers!!!

If the bartender knows the intent of the purchase is to give it to an underage drinker, they can refuse service. But if you're 20 and look of age, then you shouldn't have a problem.
