Should
You Belong
to a
Church?
'I DON'T have to belong to a church or go to church regularly in order to believe in God!' That is how many people feel about membership in a church or in any religious organization. In fact, some say that they feel closer to God when enjoying nature outdoors than when attending a religious service in a church. Today, it is a commonly held opinion that affiliation with a religious group or denomination is not a prerequisite for belief in God.
Others, however, sincerely feel differently. They contend that church membership and attendance are necessary, even vital, if one is to have God's approval. So the question of whether religious affiliation is really necessary is more than just a matter of statistical or academic interest. In any case, since our relationship with God is involved, would it not be logical to find out God's view on the matter? What, then, can we learn from his Word, the Bible, on this subject?

Hebrews 10: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Exhort: to strongly urge, or encourage)
Plus, it's tradition in the Bible itself. The Old Testement goes into detail describing the temple and how the services should be conducted. It even speaks of singing praises and hearing the word of God.
A church is a place where you can find other people who believe as you do. It can be like a family of people you can count on when times are tough.

Good Q. Jesus used the word church 2 times.
1. Once to tell Peter that he would be involved with the building of the church (Matthw 16:18)
2. To instruct people how to deal with a believer that wont confess his sin. (Matthew 18:17)
Jesus never said our church is within us. That is more a gnostic belief and for people that want to try to get out of going to church and giving back to God. That simply isnt Biblical
On the other hand, the church is very Biblical.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." -Matthew 28:19-20
Do other organizations out there make disciples of Jesus other than churches? baptize new believers? Bible teaching?
Gods will is done through todays church. Some of them may be corrupt, but that is our challenge is to make church a great place where Gods will is done, we fellowship with one another, we worship together, give back to God, take communion, make new believers, and take care of peoples needs. How does all that stuff get done "within you?"
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. -Hebrews 10:25

Because Jesus never "founded" a bible.
Because the church is the official governing authority for all Christians, everywhere.
Because Jesus gave the church the mission of teaching and baptizing all nations, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Because the church is the official distributor of God's grace in the world.
Because without the church, which is headed by Jesus, and guided by the Holy Spirit, people would have only the scriptures to guide them, and we all know how divisive and error prone that system of things is.
Because the church is the only practical means of getting to know and love God, while discerning your true role in his eternal kingdom.

We do not necessarily need a church building, although it's nice to have one, particularly in the case of a larger congregation that needs a place to meet. But a small church service held in someone's apartment is just as good. God can be honored anywhere.
As for meeting together to worship, we are urged by Scripture to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together.

Only those of THE Church will enter Heaven... all the rest will be eternaly seperated from God
All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation. those become part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are the ones of The True Christian Faith.
There is only One Church

For the same reason YOU need a body. How would all that incredible mass of blood, blood cells, bones, muscle, brain matter, function without the outer part of the body?
It couldn't! The outer part of your body isn't just there to look handsome. It holds everything together.
That is how healthy churches operate. We are held together by one another.
Think on this.

We are instructed , not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together with other believers and even more so as you see the day approaching. Most homes are not big enough to accommodate a large group of believers.

Churches are social clubs. The really bad ones make you their client for life.
You are God.
