I am pleased with the responses however i was hoping for some more. I believe one person caught me as I was attempting to get a specific answer from some (actually she knew I had an answer I was hoping for). I loved the Wili definition I got from one responder (lots of stuff there for research, and I never thought of googleing my question)

But like a few of my friends replied I am of course a "2 or 3 witnesses" sort of bloke. You see It is for the Christian a established law in the most ancient of Hebrew philosophy, and carried forward by Jesus to the Judeo-Christian. This is also called "emperic" evidence of a truth and is based on the factual observation of a specfic thing or event by more than one person, experienced by the 5 sences, and coroborated by each other. Emperic truth can be called absolute truth -vs- relevant truth.

I'll leave the question to roll over to a vote, and thanks to all that answered

Some cultures believed in the witness of 2-3 or more. Some left it up to their councils/elders.

Ah, but what exactly is truth? The philosophers have been chewing that bone for a long time now... with no end in sight.

It depends on the society.....there were a great many "tests" but it depends on the culture you're asking for.
Or is this one of those "You allready have the answer that you think is right and want to test us" questions?
