For example, you shop on Monday, and don't eat the berries until Wednesday, even though they are in the fridge at a very cool temperature, they get moldy and rotten, and then inedible, ready for the trash. How can I stop wasting money on this, any suggestions would be appreiciated. Thank you.

I have had the same problem in the past, but I have found a method that keeps them fresher for a few more days. When you get them home, go ahead and rinse them off. Then place them inside a plastic/ziploc bag with a folded paper towel. Throw the bag in your fruit and vegeatable drawer, and you should be good to go for a few days. You can also use this method to maintain freshness with herbs such as basil and cilantro.

Good luck!

Unless you have ants, I wouldn't recommend putting grapes or berries in the fridge. For strawberries especially, they don't seem to do well in the fridge. Sometimes I will buy frozen strawberries, because they can be about the same price and I will thaw them when I want to eat them.

Or the frozen strawberries with sugar, I thaw them just a little bit and then just eat it out of the container. It is like a dessert.

Well as a mother i tend to shop in advance and like to find ways of keeping my food as fresh as the day i bought them especially fruits and vegetables. I have tested many ways and through trials and errors the best way for me is to keep your berries in a tight tuperware container as soon as you come home and keep them in the fridge. Do not open until you are ready to eat. I found that tuperware does work and keep food fresh much longer than ordinary containers. They will of course not keep the fruits fresh for weeks but it will hold longer than a couple of days. Good luck

I store mine in a tupperware bowl that seals air tight, and put them in the crisper drawer of my fridge. Works for me.

Don't buy the ripe ones. 'Young' ones will last longer.
