When I go into WORD and type, it keeps putting a small dot between all of my words. Yesterday when I tried using WORD there was a little black horizontal arrow on the page. I just tried to open up a saved file and there are a bunch of sun looking symbols after some of the words, it is a circle with 4 little lines coming off of it. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you so much in advance!

TOOLS menu, OPTIONS, turn off SHOW ALL HIDDEN CHARACTERS

It's a handy feature when doing a complex layout but annoying in a letter.

I think you accidentally hit the "show/hide" button. This is a toggle - press for on, press for off.

It is used to find non-printing characters like paragraph returns, spaces, etc., when a file looks messy and we need to determine why.

I think the dots between words are your spaces. The "sun looking symbols" sound like "end of row" markers in a table.

If you are not having any problem with the file itself, look to the Standard Toolbar - the toolbar with the printer icon, floppy disk icon, etc. and the percentage of zoom (shows that you are seeing the page at 100%, 75%, whatever). Just to the left of this is the show/hide button -- it looks like a backward P. Click this and see if it does it for you. Click it again and you will see the non-printing characters. Click again to turn off.
