What if you have the money, should you put the money in even if you don't want to? How much should be given? Does God care if you don't?

God wants his money. It has his name on it, doesn't it?

I presume you're talking about putting money in the collection basket/plate at church. Let's look at this another way. If you go to a hairdresser and have your hair cut, is it okay if you refuse to pay after deciding you find the results satisfactory? Is it okay if you refuse to compensate the stylist even if you have the money to do so? Does the hair stylist care if you don't pay her?

Whether you agree with the notion of tithing (giving 10% of your income to the church) or not, the fact remains that the church provides you with a service. If you are there by your own choice, then you should compensate the church for providing you with that service. Churches have bills to pay just like you do; they must pay for utilities, possibly a mortgage on land or buildings, and they must pay the stipends of the minsters and priests who officiate and minister to their congregations. Whether or not God approves, it's dishonest not to pay if you have the means to do so.

That said, churches are much more forgiving than hair stylists. A minister or priest who truly serves his congregation will be glad to have you in attendance whether or not you contribute to the expenses of running the church.

If you don't feel like putting anything in the offering plate, then don't. It's not a requirement.

If you're in a giving mood, but feel uncomfortable contributing to a church, then perhaps consider the alternative of donating to a charity of your choice. At least at my church, a lot of the money ends up being given to various charitable groups, anyway. Give your money where you feel it will do the most good.

It defeats the purpose dear. The church needs the money to finance the preachers lifestyle. Think how expensive the innovative preaching techniques of Ted Haggard can be. All the meth and the male hookers. The catholic church also need a lot of money, some diocese are bankrupt due to the legal cost of all the pedophile priest law suits. So go to church and give as much money as you can...

The Bible says God loves a cheerful giver. I don't think God wants what you give grudgingly. It is better not to give if this is your attitude.

You need to find out why you feel this way. Giving should bless you. Are you in the wrong church? Are you having an issue with God? You really need to find out why you feel this way.

2 Corinthians 9:7 says that God love the cheerful giver.

"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. "

If you are not going to be happy or cheerfully do not give nothing. But, if you are not happy to give something to the Lord, then you should check what is causing that.

Do you really love God?

Yes and no.

God takes people where he finds them but he expects spiritual growth. If youre a new believer and dont yet have the faith to give 10%, then dont feel bad about it right now and make a pledge to God that youre going to grow in all areas including finances.

How would you feel if you offered to pay for your son or daughter's new house and all they had to do was pay 10% and they refused to pay it???

God would rather you go to church and NOT give to the offering, than NOT go to church. You don't have to PAY to go to church, but if you can afford to give, you should. It costs money to run a church, pay the pastor and his staff, and simply keeps the lights on. But you should never give more than you can afford, and you shouldn't feel bad about it!

you dont have to.. but the bible says to give tithe and offerings.. and it also says the woman who gave all she had was blessed so if you have money to give you should bc he will bless you.. your should give 10% of what you have.. but if all you have is a five you should give it anyway.. God will bless you and give back to you even more than you gave.. somehow through someone or something. it may be the day after or it may even be a year but he will give back!! hope i helped!

!~God Bless!~!

Tithing is unbiblical. God says, if you want to give, give freely and cheerfully. If you don't want to give, then don't. Giving is not required by God.

Those "churches" that force giving are unbiblical and heretical.
