I wish I could be. I have Lupus- so they can't use my organs (too many antibodies- the recipient would have major problems). I can't give blood either. This makes me kind of sad. I have received blood before- it saved my life. My husband donates blood at least 4 times a year, because we know personally how important it is to do so.

I think donating blood and organs is a wonderful act of love. It ensure that the last thing you do in life will be a blessing to others. WHat a wonderful way to leave this life.

I might consider leaving my body to science, so researchers can learn more about lupus.

I'm born again!

Yup.

First because it could help many others. I have a friend who's life was saved by a donor heart, so it's not just an absctract concept for me.

Secondly I believe that after I'm dead, I don't have any use for my body. Better it help someone else than take up space rotting in a hole.

That being said, I DON'T think non-donors are being selfish in any way. Everyone should have the right to decide what happens to their own body.

Yes, I'm an organ donor.

I guess in a way, my beliefs do influence my decision. I'm a pagan/pantheist, and I believe strongly in the idea of cycles of life. Things die, but through their death, they make it possible for other things to live. This concept can be found repeatedly throughout nature. It just seems natural to me.

However, I do believe in reincarnation, and I know a few who believe this *strictly* and they feel that donating your organs will cause you to be less than whole in your following life ... but IMO the body dies and decays and only the spirit moves on.

Hi Eve. I am not an organ donor and I have never thought of being one. I dn't know why. You can say I am selfish but I am still young and I think I need my organs now. However, I may donate an organ just before I die. I mean I would donate the organs that will still be functioning.

Yes I am. My organs will not be needed by me when I die so someone else who has a need for them should have them. The choice has nothing to do with religion - I made the decision when I got my drivers license which was after I left any kind of organized religion.

Yes.
Because I can imagine what it must be like for those who are losing ones that they love, and imagine how I would feel if that was me. I just might save somebody's child someday.
Does it have to do with my beliefs? My "religious" beliefs, no. My beliefs that I should do everything I can as a human being to help make this world a little better place for others, yes.

Absoutely, I will be an organ donor upon my death, if at all possible. I've let my family know my feelings & I will donate my bone marrow tomorrow if I could. I would do anything to save another's life. It's how I feel, there's no use in burying my organs if they can prolong another's life and stop parents from burying their children. Good luck. 2D

Yes, I'm a blood donor, also I'm in the Red Cross marrow bone list. I need eyeglasses so my eyes are not excellent, but if someone want them when I die, they can have trhem too.

Why? It is a gift of life that can save other people.

I am an organ donor and I am atheist. It gives me comfort to know that I can help a person keep their life and a family keep a loved one some day.

Yes, it is stated on my license. If I can help another or others to live, then it is the last gift I can give to help someone. My last act of compassion and kindness on earth.

I would do this whether I believed in God or not. I won't need those organs anymore.
